The White House yesterday said a new immigration review is under way that could lead to amnesty for millions of illegal aliens living and working in the United States.

Confirmation of the review came during a White House briefing, just two days after Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said during a town hall meeting in Miami that the government had to "afford some kind of legal status" to the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens in the country.

The problem is that they OBVIOUSLY DON'T CARE about our opinions. There are few, if any, major polls that place this issue below a SOLID 80% of ALL CITIZENS OPPOSE granting ANY legalization of illegals. Yet, both parties are hell-bent on making this a done deal.

Seriously, if they are in lock step, why should I bother to vote? In the last election I voted for President Bush. Not only do I like him, but have staunchly SUPPORTED him, but I am an American first and foremost, not a party animal. If there is not a candidate that will put our country FIRST, then they don't DESERVE a vote.

This week has been a load large enough to blow fuses. Perhaps neither party understands that a growing proportion of the public is moving away from party affiliation and toward independent decision of who comes closer to a broader definition (conservative, in my case).

This APPEARS to be an "under the table" concession to big business who keeps on hiring illegals at lower pay/no benefits while flaunting the laws in plain view.

Why now? Because "Joe and Jolene Six Pack" are catching on that they are facing ever increasing STATE taxes because their health plans, schools, etc. are being overrun by ILLEGALS!!!!!!

We are simply coming to the boiling point, and I truly hope that Rove et al. have RESEARCHED the unanticipated but POSSIBLE results pushing this agenda may have. Is the "illegal made legal" vote for Repubs going to absolutely EXCEED the number of former conservative independents who pushed Bush into the winner's circle? Are they SURE that these voters will turn out? And, if they do, that Demonrats won't SWING votes in their direction by whispering endless promises?

Also, if they continue lagging on promises THEY (Repubs) made to Evangelicals (such as the marriage amendment), they might be cutting off another sector of votes. If a candidate wants my vote, then I want to know that JOB ONE is this nation. I DO NOT want the borders wide open, DO NOT want to have bilingual anything, DO NOT want open access on highways....

Just look at this ONE point. The recent Hep A outbreak was totally found to come back to GREEN ONIONS shipped directly from MEXICO, in turn, they have REFUSED to accept ANY responsibility. Still, we kow-tow to a nation that refused to even back us on the Iraq war....(oh, more than one point). If their illegal refuse is more important to our President than his own citizens, SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

Any thoughts?

One way is to hit them with the campaign pocketbook or threaten it at least.

This is 'conditional love.'

If you were a Bush 2000 donor, of any amount, yet are outraged over these little illegal immigration games and trial balloons over our country's very future and national security per Tommy Ridge, Karl Rove, et.al, then it would be wise search your records, to photocopy that cancelled 2000 check to the Bush Campaign last time, and addend a letter to it and mail it in, stating clearly and politely why there will be 'No More Of These Next Time' if they don't backtrack on this.

The Bush campaign I believe is now in Arlington, VA.

And, CC's of these MUST go to the White House and the Republican National Committee.

Sen. Byrd stopped this the last time it almost got approved.

Sometimes, some Democrats use better sense than Republican Presidents.

GWB keeps pushing amnesty. Let's hope Byrd stops it again.

You left out the part about undoing everything we liked about the current administration (tax cut, partial birth abortion ban, anti-Kyoto, war on terror, etc.).

Yeah all you good republicans out there just bend over and kiss Massa's feet.

GW knows what's best for you. Doesn't matter that he's giving the Lefties everything that they want. Doesn't matter that our borders are being overrun by illegals, doesn't matter that we've had the biggest handout in American History, doesn't matter that he promises to sign the AWB if congress passes it.

Oh and btw, don't be such a "one issue" voter /sarcasm off

The shit in this administration just keeps getting deeper and deeper.

" ... and there is no way that we will be able to round everyone of them up and throw them out."

" ... they are trying to figure out how best to handle it all."

You handle it like a highway patrolman handles speeders, ONE AT A TIME!

well, the illegals may have it right this time. I suggested on another post that maybe we should have a day of each week of no spending,( counter protest) until our government acknowledges our concerns.

That tax cut is gonna cost me THOUSANDS down the road. Figure out who the hell is gonna pay for all those perscriptions? The Retirees? Yeah right!

Bubba Jr. Brought us the new 3rd rail in Politics for the next 30 years. Perscription Drug coverage.
Doubt it? show me one entitlement that has ever been cut back related to SSI? And the ironic thing is that the tweeking that is supposed to take effect will happen in 2010. When the Retiring Baby Boomers are the largest segment of society ever. No one is gonna cut that.

You got shamed. He bought you for a six hundred dollar check.

And what child is now alive that wouldn't have been due to the PBA legislation. That thing has so many holes in it, Bill Clinton wanted to date it!

You would think that the ones who went through the process to come here legally would be upset with others being allowed a easy ride.

Not really because most of the illegals already have family here who want their relatives over here.

"The illegal problem in this country is a mess and will not be solved with a snap of the finger and we also are not going to be able to just round up millions at once and throw them out.

Been "Studied" and "Discussed" for just about 20 years now, I wouldn't consider that a short time. Bush has also had three years to at least try to do something, but the only thing he has done is push Amnesty. His opinion is that immigrants settled this country and that illegals are just another form of immigrants(Nice little letter from him stating so), he seems to miss the obvious fact that they are "ILLEGAL".

Politicans have been telling us for years that this or that amnesty is just a way to get them documented so we can get a handle on the illegals in this country and work out a plan.President Reagan(The best President Period!), even got hornswagled into an amnesty, and 15 years later we have 10 times as many illegals and still no "Plan".I will add my voice to the DEPORT!!!!! crowd.

Anything less is illegal alien appeasment Period!!.. America and Americans first!!

How many of those retirees who will make use of the prescription drug program were saying the same things you're saying when they were you age. None? Some? All? When will you start using the program?

And the diffence of domestic policy would be what?
Amensty for Illegals?
How about a Perscription Drug program?
Huge Education bill?
Huge farm bill?
CFR legislation?
Preferences for Minority loans?
Preferences for Minority entrances into colleges?
Huge spending bills?

The difference is you could add:

Universal Healthcare.
Breaking up of industry 'clongomerates' like Fox News.
Gay marriage.
Hate crimes laws by the bushel.
Unabashedly liberal judicial appointments. (no filibusters)
Price supports for every imaginable industry. (read - Nationalize industry)
HCI & Brady Campaign working out of an office in the WH.
Turning the "terrorist problem" over to the UN.
Working with the UN on domestic policy (with zeal not restraint.)

*Actually, I'll vote for him, but I won't excuse every wrong or stupid thing he does because of it.

**That is a self refuting statement.

No, it means I'll be honest about where the President is wrong and criticize him for it, while recognizing that the paramount issue of our time is the War on Terror, and that Howard Dean hasn't a clue about fighting it.

I am leaning on voting for this time forward on a divided government.

That is the only hope we have left, short of torching the place, and it's the way I'll proceed from this point forward. If the Stupid Party can't present someone other than Jorge Bush, I'll leave that blank, let the chips fall where they may. I hope enough of us come to this conclusion, that he ends up a one termer and moves his sorry butt back to Texas. They're welcome to him. Blackbird.

That, without question, is true. But you are wrong about one thing. The lefties aren't getting half of what they want. Dean is anxious to give them more than they want.

The current administration is anti-Kyoto; that was my point, as you know. If the Kyoto reference sounds like spin to you, then replace it another item that would be undone.

I read a little while ago that the vast majority of gun owners are very likely lawbreakers as well. There are simply so many regulations that it is almost impossible to not break one.
There is a difference I believe, between someone who violates a regulation and someone who has no respect for other's rights.
What do you have against someone who came here from another country where he could not get a decent job and had to endure criminal gangs and corrupt officials in violation of our immigration laws, but didn't harm anyone while he was here?
The statement "The vast majority are hard working, religious, and family oriented." is not a bunch of "nicey-nice words" but honest fact.
I know that many people say "they (the Latinos) should fix their own country instead of coming here." I would like to know why they don't say that about all the other immigrants who have come to America because something was wrong with their country: the Pilgrims, the Scotch-Irish, the Germans, the Poles and other Eastern-Europeans, the Russians, the Irish, the Vietnamese, Jews from many places at different times are just a few of them.
I read in a newspaper a while ago that our immigration laws have changed little in the past eighty years since they were developed by Hitler-admiring eugenists who thought that Western Europeans were superior to the Eastern Europeans, who were superior to the Orientals, who were superior to the Jews, who in turn were better than the Africans, who, it seems were the lowest form of human life.
Does anyone know if that is true?
