Noam Chomsky and others have ruined the world of Cultural Anthropology, by turning it into a mouth piece for a radical left-wing agenda. Anthropology is a noble study of humanity. If I had one thing to ask Noam Chomsky, I would ask him why he hasn't left the field of Anthropology and let individuals who are willing to engage in an honest exchange of ideas to help the field progress.

There are many who ask how it is possible that our most privileged and educated youth should come to despise their own nation – a free, open, democratic society – and to do so with such ferocious passion. They ask how it is possible for American youth to even consider lending comfort and aid to the Osama bin Ladens and the Saddam Husseins (and the Communists before them). A full answer would involve a search of the deep structures of the human psyche, and its irrepressible longings for a redemptive illusion. But the short answer is to be found in the speeches and writings of an embittered academic and his intellectual supporters.


For forty years, Noam Chomsky has turned out book after book, pamphlet after pamphlet and speech after speech with one message, and one message alone: America is the Great Satan; it is the fount of evil in the world. In Chomsky’s demented universe, America is responsible not only for its own bad deeds, but for the bad deeds of others, including those of the terrorists who struck the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. In this attitude he is the medium for all those who now search the ruins of Manhattan not for the victims and the American dead, but for the "root causes" of the catastrophe that befell them.

In the West, fortunately, it scarcely exists now, though it did in the past. There is, of course, what the Anti-Defamation League calls "the real anti-Semitism", more dangerous than the old-fashioned kind: criticism of policies of the state of Israel and US support for them, opposition to a vast US military budget, etc. In contrast, anti-Arab racism is rampant. The manifestations are shocking, in elite intellectual circles as well, but arouse little concern because they are considered legitimate: the most extreme form of racism.

Chomsky was an ardent supporter of the Khmer Rouge, swore that they didn't commit any murders, that the CIA made it up... finally even the KR said "yes, we did it," and Chomsky sequed seamlessly into a "it's the US's fault anyway, somehow" line.

He calls himself a "Libertarian Socialist" (also known as anarchist) and seems to hold the view -- and this is my characterization -- that if you just killed off all the businessmen, all the private property owners, anyone with an individualist mindset, anyone motivated by self-interest in any way... you'd be left with interchangeable workers who loved all mankind and would selflessly share everything and work together and build together and hold hands and la la la la la la la! The guy is a Phoebe Buffet song without the music.
