NEW YORK (AP) -- Andy Pettitte chose home over history, agreeing Thursday to sign with the Houston Astros and leave the New York Yankees.
New York wasted little time in trying to land a replacement, closing in on a trade with Los Angeles that would send Kevin Brown to the Yankees for Jeff Weaver in a swap of starters, a baseball official said on the condition of anonymity.

Bummer, the older he got the better he was in the clutch.
Merry Christmas to you and hubby Nutmeg.

No disrespect back to ya, but don't get me started on Counsel and the fact that all that you mention is ancient history and the fact that our idiot manager's insistance on putting him in the lineup the second half of the season before guys who where hitting 50-70 pts highter than him sunk our chances faster than s*** out of a goose. I personally watched this guy last season either strike out, ground to third or hit into a frickin double play! Wishin he was better isn't going to help nobody.

Me, too. Pretty soon the Yankees will have one pitcher...Mike the Moose...unless they get to work and do some wheeling-dealing..

Really?? Andy's old man's dumb comments negate 149 wins, 4 rings, and a great Yankee?? Come on! OK, maybe I'm a little negative here. My first response when I heard about him officially going to the Astros was "he's dead to me". I still can't believe it's really happened -- it's so raw, I'm still in pain!

I'm a Red Sox fan. I'm oh so kind! :-)

I'm sorry, but you are just plain delusional. It's sad. It realy is. There is no such thing as mystic and aura. Like Schilling said, those are the names of the strippers down by skankee stadium. I'll be waiting for the skanks when they get here next June. Think I'll pour some beer on 'em. Owwwwwhhh!!! Glad to see you are just as classless as ever. Some things never change.

Yes, some things never change, like the skanks choking again.
Now you got the perfect head cae to go with your head case team.
You see, it's all very clear to me now. You're used to people just bowing before you, you are kind of like the skankees.
I don't do that.

I haven't forgotten how nasty you were after the World Series. In fact, you told me to STFU when all I did was congratulate the Marlins fans on their victory, and ordered me off the thread! Let me return the favor today.
To: NYCVirago
I never said that. You have me confused with someone else.
Besides, we have all had to put up with skankee fans for a long, long time

Someone I know who is privy to this situation has told me that the Yankees are very wary of re-signing Pettitte. Apparently there is some serious concern about a condition with his pitching elbow that could end his career at any time. Wow...Pettite is one of the best lefties in the game.. for NY to not even make him an offer, a place where he has pitched his heart out, is inconceivable.
For what it's worth, the real reason may be This
