Dan was taking terrible abuse in the local media and no one here in Atlanta can be surprised. He struck me as being a bit too decent a fellow for what the game is today.
I'm not sure what role Vick may have had in it - but when I first heard the news this morning, I wondered if this wasn't a replay of Magic Johnson and Paul Westphal. When the star player's salary is an order of magnitude above the coach - the tail wags the dog sometimes.

When I was in high school, Dan Reeves used to volunteer his time and coach the running backs and receivers at our high school during spring training. At that time he was a running back for the Cowboys. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the guy, he is truly a gentleman.

I hope the Falcons hire both Stoops and Saban. That would be sweet.

Judging from the current sports scene, (EVERY SPORT) being a gentleman means you are doomed.
More's the pity!

Ditto on Dan Reeves being a great guy. He visited our Christian Athletes in High School in Irving Texas when he was a Dallas Cowboy. Also, from what Tom Landry said Dan was in the film room first and last, one heck of a work ethic. All the Best to Dan Reeves, a winner.

Had Vick been healthy all year, the Falcons would be in the play-off hunt and Reeves would still have a job. There's not a bigger difference make in the NFL than Vick.

why do you insinuate he is a miserable failure like you?

Prediction: Fassel is fired as coach of the Giants at the end of the season, and his replacement is Herman Edwards.
You heard it here first.

You're right -- Edwards is not going to be fired by the Jets.
Most NFL fans may not know this, but even though he's signed through next year he's got an escape clause in his contract that allows him to leave at the end of this season. The Giants are going to offer him a nice, handsome raise, along with a contract that will extend beyond what he's got now with the Jets.
Edwards is everything that Fassel isn't -- a strong leader and disciplinarian who doesn't tolerate any sh!t from his players. For all their flaws, the Jets are a very disciplined team and play solid fundamental football. If the Giants had even a shred of that in them, they would finish this season at least 12-4 and maybe have home field through the playoffs. And this is after they would have gone to the Super Bowl last year, too.
