Unwelcome Surprise on State Income Tax Forms
WBEN Newsroom - Wednesday, December 10, 2003 08:58 AM
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - As New York grapples with budget gaps, it is apparently looking to you to help plug them.
On the state income tax form you'll fill out for the 2003 tax year, you'll be expected to estimate how much
sales tax you avoided paying by shopping on-line, out-of-state, or on the reservation.
If you failed to save your receipts all the year, the state will include a chart with estimated taxes you should have paid.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government
KEYWORDS: cigarettes; indianreservations; newyorksalestax; pufflist; utahisnext

The State wants you to be honest and claim anything you may have bought at an Indian Reservation, out of state or online.
They are even talking about monitoring the reservations and taking down license plates. Big Brother??
We must remember folks, The NYState Assembly gave us the largest Tax increase in NYState history and they are all up for re-election this coming November.
Vote them all out!

how much sales tax you avoided payingI avoided NOTHING. Tax wasn't requested/asked for, etc. Therefore, I avoided NOTHING.
Of course ALL the NY democRATS will be paying, right? What with their thinking they don't pay enough taxes to begin with.

Actually, the tax was required, it's just that out-of-state companies aren't required to collect it. It's called a "use tax" and most states, aside from my new home state of New Hampshire, have them.
Living in New Hampshire, we're going to save an estimated $5,000 a year in sales tax over the 8.25% we were paying in San Jose, California, not to mention the lower cost of just about everything we buy.

Sure you can trust the government, just ask an Indian!
I think I will run for the Assembly in the 144th district.
Sam Hoyt needs to go down!
We need someone to run in every district across the state!!

Hitlery and her kind need more money to live the American Dream while the little folks submit to slavery.

You do not have to tell the state anything other than pay your normal taxes, what you do on the Internet is your business and yours alone as long as you are not breaking some law. Big Brother is gaining ground each and every day - those who let the free choice to smoke be taken away - those who are letting signs of the cross and other Christian symbols be taken away from them but allowing the Jewish and Islamic symbols to stay are not standing up for their rights as Americans. Those who let the sacrament of marriage be used for gay marriages are hypocrites. Those people are giving up freedom for Socialism. Wake Up! Political Correctness has taken hold of our young from day one in school through college, it is time to stop this insanity.
