Does anyone know that such a gun exists?

Not the last I heard.

Even if the rest of the gun is made of "plastic", if it fires anything like a regular round, the barrel needs to be metal to withstand the enormous pressures of firing. And even a small barrel will trigger the metal detector. Even Glock pistols, which put the liberals into hysterics about "plastic guns that can evade airport security" in the first place, contain many ounces of steel in the barrel and other parts.

And "plastic" guns are a moot point for the X-ray machine, since even all-plastic toy SQUIRT GUNS show up just fine on airport X-ray machines.

About the only material other than metal one could make a reliable gun barrel out of would be ultra-high-tech ceramics, but those are pretty much beyond the reach of the average (or even above-average) terrorist workshop.

A ceramic barrel and firing chamber wound tight with a strong polymer wire shoulk work for multiple firings. Haven't seen one yet.

For today, perhaps, but not forever.

How about a Kevlar wrapped composite? The darned thing doesn't have to last very long, 20-100 rounds max, close range only.

Actually it would be possible to make the gun all plastic except for a barrel liner...inside plastic or carbon fiber...

For a one shot throw away...using caseless ammo...nearly anything is possible...

Glocks also have big thick steel slides, steel internals as well as metal flakes embedded in the polymer frame
a concession Gaston made to the liberal rubes many years ago..

Darn right.

The story on how I ended up buying a Glock 17.

Slimeball Ted Kennedy all over the media in the mid 80's, decrying the Glock as a plastic gun that could make it through the airport undetected. Curious, I looked into it. Found a gun magazine article on the 17, and it showed a photo of the Glock under an airport x-ray machine. Sorry, liars, but even the plastic frame shows up clearly under x-ray, and the gun is, by weight, 80% steel. On top of that, it was drop-tested safe up to 30 feet, and you don't have to remember to flick the safety off when you're in a high-stress situation. So, I bought it, and I still like it.

Two truths: The Glock is a good pistol, and Ted Kennedy was, is, and always will be, a liar and a dirtbag.
