Your emphasis on the "old" man thing takes me way back. When I was a kid, I often heard other kids refer to their Dads as 'the old man' (or their Mom's as 'the old lady'). Even then, to me, that sounded so disrespectful. I always called my parents 'Mom' and 'Dad'. Even when I was angry or unhappy with them, I never called them 'the old man(lady)'.

My hasty post reference to that article as him being an 'old' man by no means was intended as disrespect. Far from it. He has my utmost respect !

Reservists Permanently Eligible for VA Home Loans

(December 9) -- Congress has approved comprehensive veterans' benefits legislation, which includes a provision that extends permanent eligibility to Reservists for Veteran's Administration home loans.

While the thrust of the benefits legislation is to expand veterans' benefits to disabled veterans, surviving spouses and their children, former POWs and Filipino veterans, the legislation also restores the program allowing the VA to make loans for the sale of foreclosed properties. The legislation also modestly increases loan fees for veterans and reservists for a set duration to pay for expanded health and education benefits.
