[history]
Al Gore's endorsement yesterday is a coup for Howard Dean and has pundits proclaiming that the former Vermont Governor has sewn up the Democratic nomination. We'd prefer to give the voters a say first, and before they vote they deserve to know more about this political unknown boasting that he'll topple a popular incumbent President.

Please Dean- give us your $2 trillion tax cut. Crush us under the burden of taxation! It is what we deserve.

Sorry, I was so ecstatic at Dean's promise of hiking taxes on Americans, I mistyped. Here is what I meant to type:

My 'middle class' family earned just over 100 grand last year.
That puts in the over 30% tax bracket. When I add in the Illinois State Income Tax, that meant I 'contributed' over 30,000 dollars of our families income. That figure doesn't even begin to cover Excise taxes, Sales taxes, Property Taxes, or the dozens of 'fees' charged at the State, County, and Local levels.
The Bush tax cuts save us well over 2000 dollars in Federal taxes.
Howard Dean has promised to take 'every dime' of that back.
So to Candidate Howard Dean, Clan Lurker raises it's collective middle finger.
Thanks for the post Pokey.
Regards,
L

I saw a Dean rally, and he knows about as much about economics as a fourth grader. First he says "Bush tax cuts are bad for the economy," then he says, "I will use your tax money to help people find jobs." Ok, Howard, how do you use people's tax money to create private sector jobs? Then he says he wants to nationalize health care, which, of course, will put huge burdens on small businesses. And what really makes me sick is that so many of the teenage girls where I live actually buy that garbage. They say, "I trust him. He seems really smart." "Howard Dean for America! Bla bla bla" He may be smart in some areas, but not politics. Or else he wouldn't have those same ideas. Last time I checked, he was leading the democrats too.

With all due respect, if teenagers are drawn to Dean's "intellect", I think it's clear what kind of intelligence he demonstrates- the demagogic, "bumper-sticker" version. Dean's lack of truthfulness will be a campaign issue- he exaggerates or flat out lies at almost every campaign stop, even on little matters. Koppel had to chastise him for misstating that most of the debate today was on Iraq, when they didn't touch it for the first 45 minutes. He lies on matters big and small. He also lied that Bush's Texas records were sealed when in fact, those records are unsealed. Since he never recants these false statements, we should hang him on them.

I remember those days, when SNL actually got laughs without totally relying on dirty language.
