Berlin The detective who investigated Germany's infamous cannibal case told a court yesterday that he had stumbled upon a vast cannibal scene in Germany involving several dentists and other professionals.
Giving evidence in the trial of Armin Meiwes, the 42-year-old computer expert who killed and ate another man, federal investigator Wilfried Fehl yesterday said the gruesome case was not an isolated one.
His officers had discovered a flourishing cannibal scene in Germany, he said, involving middle-class professionals, as well as manual workers. "We are talking about dentists, teachers, cooks, government officials and handymen," he told the court, during the second day of Mr Meiwes' trial for murder.
He added: "These are people who come from the middle reaches of society."
Mr Fehl said that despite their endeavours German detectives had not been yet able to track down any more cannibal victims, following the arrest of Mr Meiwes last December. Mr Meiwes's act was "a thing" that was "practically unimaginable" even for "experienced criminologists" like him, he admitted.
"It leads us to where thinking stops," he said. Earlier, the court heard how on March 10, 2001 the computer expert stabbed, fried and then digested Bernd Brandes, a 43-year-old Berlin engineer he met through the internet. Mr Brandes travelled by train to Mr Meiwes' rambling timbered farmhouse in the German town of Rotenburg after answering an advert requesting "people for slaughter".
Before the killing, he agreed to have his penis cut off which both men tried to eat.
Yesterday a relaxed, smiling Mr Meiwes said that it was wrong to describe his crime as murder because his victim had agreed to be killed.

The moral of the story is, if you live in Schleswig, don't send your dentist out for cold cuts.

"Don't think I'll ever eat or look at a hot dog again." A friend of mine ordered a tongue sandwich in a deli. I waited until he took a couple of bites, then remarked, "Just think. While you're tasting it, it's tasting you." He put it down and could not take another bite.
=====================================
Apropos of nothing, when I was 4 or 5 years old, I went about consciously trying to construct a consistent view of the Universe. Part of it had to do with hot dogs. My theory was that when you ate a hot dog, it stayed inside you...until the next time you threw up.
I also wondered what was inside of people. I knew about blood--being a kid--so I imagined that people were full of bloody seaweed (I knew about seaweed from my parents' trips to the beach). Sort of stuffed like the Scarecrow of Oz...bloody seaweed.
Imagine my disillusionment.

I was waiting for your post.
1. Lawyers don't actually like to kill their prey outright--they're more remora-like--so they wouldn't fit in well.
2. Lawyers generally would NOT want to join cannibal clubs. It'd be a violation of lawyer-client/cannibal-victim privilege. Cannibal FIRMS would have to be established, with reciprocal contractual arrangements.
3. The cannibals are too self-respecting to hang out with lawyers.

We are seeing the final stages of cultural degeneracy, where the once Christian West sinks to a moral and behavioral level lower than that of the pagan nations of the Third World. How many years are we from the ACLU and their ilk demanding that consensual cannibalism is a human right? Fewer than I would like!

Sauteed in garlic, salt, and pepper, according to the other articles linked on this story.
I'm sure you wanted to know that.

My dear! Homosexuality pales before this. At least gays don't eat each other after sauteeiing genitals.

I don't know why I keep clicking on the followup stories. I suppose I think if I made it through the first posting, which was by far the worst, I can make it through them all.
This is almost unbelievable however, evil, heinous, and out of this world.

My theory was that when you ate a hot dog, it stayed inside you...until the next time you threw up.I'll tell you my childhood construct.
I had watched all these cowboy and bad-guy movies where, when a person who had been shot and dying was trying to tell, i.e., who shot them, and he'd invariably say, "it was.... it was...[gasp, he dies]"
I construed that to mean that the man had wastefully talked far too much throughout his life and had USED UP all his allotted words, so that now, when he REALLY needed them, he was ALL OUT OF WORDS!
So naturally I became very economic in my use of words, saying only what was necessary -- because I didn't want to run out before my time.
