Hollywoods hypocrisy is showing again.
Left-leaning celebs in Tinseltown generally lend their support and even pay tribute to any famous person who decides to hit the rehab trail. Well, not when it comes to Rush Limbaugh.
Many of the so-called caring folks in La-La Land appear to be rubbing their hands together in sadistic glee at Rushs pain problem and the possibility that he could be charged with something.
In a lefty celebrity world, compassion has partisan overtones and doesnt extend from lib to conservative, even when the addiction stems from a relief-of-pain pursuit.
Lets take a stroll down left-wing memory lane for a moment. Throughout his entire time in public office, Bill Clinton refused to produce his medical records. And his defenders didnt care a whit.
Rush, who holds no public office, has now had his confidential medical records seized by the police. And the same folks somehow think its way cool.
The Left Coast Report has a play on lib words for would-be Rush detractors: The Maharushies conduct doesnt rise to the level of prosecution.

Oh, please, please, please don't whine because Hollywood liberals don't love Rush.
Please don't give them the satisfaction.
Does this guy have any examples of "so-called caring folks in La-La Land appear to be rubbing their hands together in sadistic glee at Rushs pain problem"?
It must be great to work at NewsMax and to not have to worry about those pesky journalistic details, like sources or quotes.

Rush is a good example of the controversy regarding the legalization of drugs. Addiction to a condition such as Rush had has resulted in long jail sentences for many. How can you rationalize letting him walk away while others are going to prison? You can't. The drug war is prohibition which has never worked before. It is a means to tighten up the supply and make the drug trade more profitable. Instead of prohibition, it should be taxed heavily enough to cover the costs of treatment for those who get hooked. We pay too many costs in prisons, crime, and corruption without any positive results.

Still, given Rush's stance on the WoD, how can he walk away?

Rush isn't in trouble with the law so much for drug abuse as for doctor shopping, which is illegal in Florida since July 2002.

"Oh, please, please, please don't whine because Hollywood liberals don't love Rush. "
Especially considering the amount of love Rush has/had for those wonderful liberals in Hollywood.
To: Little Ray
I have never heard Rush speak of the WOD. I assume he is against the elimination of all drug laws just like I am against the elimination of drunk driving laws.

A lot of celebs get away with such things. Therefore, Rush and other celebrates should be exempt from drug laws while people like you and are should not be exempt.
To: jsbankston
Not should be. Are. I have never known anyone arrested for doctor shopping. I'm sure it's against the law but it isn't enforced very much as best I can tell.

You may not have heard any Hollywood lefties spewing glee over this, but have you heard ANYONE doing so? If not, you live in a mighty closed world. There are plenty of leftists out there in ecstasy over this.
But then, they have so little to be happy about lately, I guess they have to grab on to whatever little bit of glee they can find.

Speaking of NewsMax (or NewsMin as I would term it), was there ever any confirmation of the claim that a family was abducted by the Mexican Army last week?

I don't believe that Rush has cleaned up his act. He has engaged in what addiction specialists cynically call the " three year tune-up", a reference to the wealthy addict's habit of entering rehab on a three year average to get detoxed when their consumption level gets so high it impacts on their health eg..ototoxic deafness, liver damage kidney damage etc.
Now that Rush is "clean" he can do opiates at a level 10% of his previous consumption and derive the same effect.
You will note that Rush continues to be very vague about when and how he became addicted and when specifically did he have his " failed back surgery" that led to his addiction. People in the public arena are vague when is is necessary to be vague. IN this case I suspect that the actual data doesn't match up with his story thus leading to the vague statments.
This was Rushes THIRD trip to drug rehab. ( Something he never mentioned before.)
IN the end Rush is still in denial. He says he has a " pain medication problem"..the simple fact is Rush is a junkie. The only diffrence between Rush and an East harlem Junkie is he has money.

Rush should fall under the "all lot of celebrities" statutes?
To: joesbucks
I believe that Rush is not the problem in America. I don't equate Rush taking pain pills for back pain with some guy shooting up a liquor store because he wants to buy crack. I personally don't support the end of drug laws because WE will have to pay for the addicts. Get rid of nanny government and I'll support the end of drug laws.
