Many young Iranians have no interest in politics or tradition. Instead, they just want more social freedom -- freedom of expression, freedom to meet members of the opposite sex, and freedom to listen to the music of their choice.

That isn't enough. Those are the objectives of children. This is increasingly looking like violence will be the only way to dislodge the ruling theocratic elite, and these aren't issues that inspire people to put their bodies in front of tanks a la Tiananmen square. The mullahs are hoping to wait the kids out, and the kids are hoping to wait the mullahs out. Stalemate. At least at the moment.
