Gore's Endorsement Slaps Bill & Hillary
NewsMax ^

While the press is focusing on Al Gore's endorsement as a slap in the face to the ever-so-loyal Joe Lieberman, the real story is about Gore's real target: Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Gore is expected to endorse Dean in Harlem, of all places, the adopted home of Hillary and Bill, where the former president's office is situated.

Clearly, Gore knows that Bill and Hillary are trying to stop Howard Dean.

And Dean has made no bones that he'll fire DNC Chief Terry McAuliffe, handpicked by the Clintons.

It's also no secret that the Clintons urged Wesley Clark to run in an effort to stop Dean's momentum, and helped raise his initial funds. Top Clinton aides run Clark's campaign.

And the Clintonistas who don't work for Clark, like Hillary strategist Harold Ickes and former White House chief of staff Leon Panetta, have begun trashing Dean as unelectable in published interviews.

Apparently, Gore would have none of it. He is backing Dean, and early, before a clear front-runner emerges after New Hampshire.

Gore has several reasons for rolling the dice with Dean and slamming the Clintons.

First, it's payback to the Clintons.

Gore has quietly blamed Bill Clinton's scandal baggage as the main reason he lost to Bush in a razor-thin electoral margin in 2000.

Gore and his wife, Tipper, have little love for Hillary, who started the Clinton presidency by demanding she get the office traditionally reserved for the VP in the West Wing.

Things went downhill from there.

There was Hillary's Senate bid in 2000, which Gore believes drained national Democratic Party resources, not to mention publicity, from his presidential campaign.

To add insult to injury, Gore wanted to run in 2004 and views Bush as vulnerable. But Hillary's political machine told top Democratic donors in New York and Hollywood not to back him.

In November 2002 Hillary pointedly pulled the rug out from under Gore when Chris Matthews asked "when" she was going to make a formal endorsement. She declined to say anything nice about her husband's loyal VP, let alone offer an endorsement, much to the chagrin of a stunned Matthews.

A month later, Gore dropped out of the race.

Gore no doubt sees Dean as just desserts for Bill and Hillary.

He may also see Dean as a path for his own return to power.

As NewsMax reported, Gore shares Hillary's view that the Democratic convention next summer may not offer a candidate in the first round of balloting.

While Dean may have the most delegates, he may not have enough to win.

In that case, Hillary envisions a presidential draft that would hand her the nomination at the last minute.

Gore sees the same possibility himself. By aligning himself with Dean, the ex-VP will have the first dibs on any deal cut at the convention. A Gore-Dean ticket may sound crazy now, but it could be a real possibility by next summer.

Don't get me wrong, I want GWB to stay healthy because he's a good man and it would be horrible to see such a good man die, I'd cry my eyes out. But it wouldn't have much to do with our chances of holding the WH. We'd just draft Jeb, and get huge amounts of sympathy votes. If that happened, I wouldn't think we're gonna have a 40 state wallop, I'd know we were.

"Their only solution is The Wicked Witch becoming VP, but that could end her career if there is a landslide."

Pray for W and The Election

IMHO, Hildabeast will take the VP slot, if she is forced too. So even if Dean loses, then she will run for Pres in 2008. Remember the Rats rely on the Black vote, and they LOVE the Clintons, who can do no wrong.

But if the unthinkable happens, and Dean wins, then Hillary will make history by becoming the first woman Vice-President.

We all should never underestimate the power of the beast...in this case..Hillary. She is just plain evil.

Suddenly, with the Dean endorsement, he's going somewhere.

Picture it:

A former US Senator becomes Vice President for eight years, then gets his party's nomination for President. There is a very close election, and charges of fraud and stealing the election. The former VP graciously bows out, trying to put the controversy behind him, and four years later endorses an outsider from the fringes of his party. The fringe candidate goes on to lose spectacularly to an incumbent President, but the former VP gains the trust of the fringe candidate's supporters. The former VP goes on to win his party's nomination again, and with discontent over a foreign war in the public's mind, beats his opponent in another narrow election, and goes on to win re-election to a second term.

Who am I talking about? Richard Nixon, of course.

Anybody see the significance of today's announcement now?

I don't know for sure, but Bill is a huge thorn in Hillarys fat arse. He has a 23% approval rating. He's an impeached, discraced man in the eyes of the country (except a few very dumb people).

Yes, but some of those dumb people are rich, and BJ Billy's still a major money draw for the DNC. If McAuliffe doesn't let them redirect it into their own funds, that is. The only thing BJ's running for is Secretary-General of the UN, and corruption is a positive attribute there. Him in as Sec'y-Gen and Hill in as President of the U.S.? Be afraid, be very afraid...

I already saw great significance in the endorsement before reading your post, but you certainly have added to the historical perspective and context.

Thank you very much for that great post!

Interesting take on Nixon. The parallels are kind of spooky. The big difference is Barry Goldwater was no LBJ hater like Dean is regarding Bush.
Also; I think Goldwater was in the senate when he ran. Dean is an ex-gov.

With there already being the father as an ex-prez, the chances of Jeb reacing the WH is slim to none.

The country would feel "Bush Fatigue", IMO.

"Who says the Anti-christ has to be a man?"

You know you may have a point there..her main focus after all is to turn this country into a socialist/marxist nation

Quite true. The parallels are not exact, of course, but they are eeriely similar. I must confess, the idea came to me when I was watching MSNBC this morning. They were interviewing Bill Press and Pat Buchanan about the Gore endorsement, and Pat thought it was super big for the '08 race, of course, Press thought the whole thing was entirely about '04. Pat mentioned Nixon's endorsement of Goldwater, and the rest of the story just came together.

I was a freshman in high school when Goldwater ran. It was my introduction to Republican politics. I got a job selling cans of a lemon-lime beverage labled "Gold Water" during my hometown's fall festival.
