Shark attack victim: I want to 'go home and surf'
NEW YORK (CNN) -- 13-year-old Bethany Hamilton was surfing in Hawaii on October 31 when she was attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark, losing her left arm about four inches below the shoulder. Less than a month later, she hit the waves again. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper spoke to her about her recovery.

I read in People that her first thought was "I wonder if this means I'll lose my endorsements."

There is no way I would get back in that water. This girl is fearless! She is a great inspiration.

She's a ninny. I saw some of this on Hannity last night. She can't put one full sentence together. It became too painful to watch.

COOPER: When they took your stitches out, were you like, I'm going back in the water right now? HAMILTON: I wanted to, but then he was like, oh, you can't go out until this day, and I started counting because I couldn't go out forever.
Like, I know surfer chicks are, like, soooo weird with their grammar, and everything. But, you know, I thought that an interviewer could, like, try to speak properly.

She's only 13. I saw her last night too but I thought she was just very nervous about being on tv.

I hope the next time she surfs with seals; she doesn't look like one. The wetsuit and all. I mean, when she realizes that all of the seals have left the area. What would one think? Maybe a shark is looking for dinner?

Sharks don't like the taste of human beings; but that doesn't mean they won't take a bite out of them especially if they look like one of their favorite dinners, seals.

I don't read people, but I heard that her first thoughts were of God and the opportunity that this accident would bring to tell of her faith.

She's a ninny.Yes, but most thirteen year olds are and that's the way it should be most of the time. The interview was about surfing, not about electrical engineering.

Bethany is not a ninnie, she's a thirteen year old girl who seems on the shy side. A hugh shark chews off her arm and weeks later cameras and reporters decend on her home. To her credit I've seen only a very few stories other then news wires.
Since her arm was bitten off on Oct. 31 and she was out trying to surf on Thanksgiving indicates she is accepting of what God has given her. Bethany is a faithful young lady who has decided to turn this horrible tragedy into something positive.
You just wait and see, she will.

I know. The cynic in me says that life sometimes tosses us a "lesson". Like when you get your arm bit off by a shark, just maybe you should contemplate other options. But being "driven" is being driven. Wouldn't work for me.

Yeah, saw a show where these marine biologists trolled around in a Great White area with a seal dummy in tow behind the boat. Man, those GW's would hit it like a largemouth bass hits a top water jig.
If I were a surfer I'd get an un-seal looking as possible.

What weight fly rod does it take to cast one of those seal flies, anyway?
