Past couple fo days have been hectic. Finally got Marilyn released to home from the Ocala hospital....as a hospice patient. The hospice people said, in their opinion, she has about 3 weeks to live. At least my mom got to see her ... although Marilyn was basically unconscious and was moaning and groaning constantly. I brought two of her cats here ... placed them on her bed, hoping that she'd feel better ... but she didn't seem to notice they were there.

Claudia and I got her up to Shands at the U of Florida in Gainesville last night via private transport and they were horrified at her condition. Her skin is breaking apart ... possible thrush too. She's there now and in the best of hands. Hopefully, they can do something for her.

After getting about 3 hours sleep in a 48-hour period, Claudia and I crashed and slept today away ... and now I have to eat and clean up the house which has become a complete wreck over the past couple of days.

ALL: Please ping everyone.

Prayers for Gods MERCY in Marilyns situation. See Beach_Babes post 199

Beach_Babe;

Is there "any" talk of a liver transplant?

She would be at the top of the list in her condition.

I'm praying so hard for her. That she was let to get in this condition is horrifying.

I am not a doctor, and I know she had the spinal abcess too, but from what you were telling us about the spinal abcess and what needed to be done with regard to that, and from what I know about liver disease being a liver patient for all these years and having known a TON of liver patients, the care she was getting (I should say LACK of care) concerning her liver, really frightened me.

I say this from knowing a TON of liver patients as friends, and from being a patient myself. Things just weren't right, and you are right in feeling the way you did. You had a "gut" feeling..and those feelings are usually right. I'm not surprized that Shands was HORRIFIED with Marilyn's condition.

For Marilyns sake and for the sake of future patients, I hope you take Oncalla to task for how they treated Marilyn. This was so wrong. It makes me sick to my stomach just reading about it. I hurt so bad for you Alice. I think reading your frustration and hearing your cry for help all this time, is why I have felt such a need to be involved. It wasn't only because Marilyn has the same illness that I have, it was because I could feel your love for her, and I knew things just were NOT right. I wanted to help you so badly. And I felt so helpless to do anything.

After you sent me her lab numbers, and I saw the increase in her Bili's and her Albumins... I knew then they needed to get a Liver specialist in. That they didn't,..and that they CONTINUED to abuse her liver the way they did, IS CRIMINAL.

I am so thankful that Marilyn has been transferred to Shands.

Shands is a Liver Transplant Hospital and from everything I've heard, an excellent hospital.

I am going to pray that Marilyn is put on a Transplant List.

I know it seems like she is too sick to be helped. But remember,.. it is ONLY DYING patients, who get TRANSPLANTED. Only dying people are on the list.

The only thing that may prevent her from getting one, is her spinal abcess. I've been so concerned with her liver of late, I haven't even asked if her spinal abcess resolved... did it?

It could disqualify her if it is still abcessed. If that happens, you tried everything you could do to save her. Then again, it may not.

I will be praying so hard for her, and for you and Claudia.

If it is Gods Will for her to be transplanted, it WILL be done.

Maybe with GOOD medical care, they can even fix her abcess. Who knows. All I know is you have done all you can. It truly is in the Fathers hands now.

She is in good hands.

God Bless you FRiend.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You have placed Marilyn into a hospital with hope, truly an answer to prayer. We ask that You guide the hearts and hands of those tending her, giving wisdom and sound judgment for the appropriate procedures to stabilize her. Place Your healing hand upon her, I pray, for she has suffered greatly at the hands of those who were supposed to help. Thank You for the courage and determination of her sister and friend ... reward their diligence, I pray, in the restoration of Marilyn's life. Lift her from the brink of death back to recovery, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

Prayers of thanksgiving that your sister is now at Shands and in better hands. Prayers that God will open eyes and hearts to all things necessary to the best efforts of healing Marilyn now, and that it shall be done. May He bless and surround her situation with His providence that good prevail in every aspect.
