[history]
WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Al Gore plans to endorse Howard Dean today as the Democratic candidate for president, a surprise stroke that some strategists believe -- and rival candidates fear -- could lend establishment credentials to the insurgent front-runner and cement his already substantial lead in public opinion polls.

I beg to differ, Liz.
This is Clintonista triangulation at it's finest. Gore and the Clintons buried the hatchet some time ago. Gore backs Dean and the rest of the pack withers on the vine. I told you s bit bsck that Clark was brought in by the Clintons to give Buzz Boy some cover and it's still so. The Clinton's ticket is Dean/Clark; it's all been planned in advance.
Whether the Bushies machine can withstand the assault is still in question.

Will Gore tongue kiss Dean at the Convention? That should really "energize" the Dem's base.

Interesting takes on this issue. We are witnessing the machinations of madmen, desparate power-hungry political terrorists united on one front, the hatred of President Bush.

"It's huge," said Donna Brazile, Gore's campaign manager in 2000. "Al Gore has enormous stature and credibility. This endorsement will give Howard Dean a tremendous boost. It immediately allows Howard Dean to run a 50-state campaign, to raise money and help validate him with voters who don't know him yet, to bring minorities and women to the table who as yet have been undecided." Rubbish! Gore's endorsement can't even guarantee Tennessee... based upon the 2000 election. ;^)

I beg to differ, Liz. This is Clintonista triangulation at it's finest. Far be it from me to ever underestimate the Clintons' capacity at connivance in order to further their crass political ambitions. Yet, I cannot yet visualize how the Clintons benfit from Gore's move. Time will tell. You could be right.

By controlling the front runner, they leave their options wide open. Howie's now been co-opted. The last threat, from the Dem side anyway, to whatever they decide they want has now been neutralized.

Here's my thinking on the "Clinton" take: We've not yet had a woman veep, let alone a woman prez. Better to let the sheeple get used to the taste of it before a big jump like President Hillary. So, Dean/Clark in 2004; just to beat the Bushies. Dean/Clinton in 2008. And Hillary/? in 2012. Just look at their history...the Clintons are patient people.

Ultimately, Kerry did sign off on a statement in his own name. "This election is about the f'n future, not about the f'n past," the statement read. "This election will be decided by f'n voters, across the country, beginning with voters in f'n Iowa."

This is all about 2008Perhaps, but algor is so delusional he probably traded his support for a Secretary of the Interior positon in a Dean administration.

We are witnessing the machinations of madmen, desparate power-hungry political terrorists united on one front, the hatred of President Bush. How easily Dumbocrats are fooled by their candidates' political rhetoric that they are "for the people" when these individuals hold humanity in utter contempt.

After listening, watching all of the 'big-doo' surrounding this endorsement I suspect it might just be a "master plan" by the dems. Everyone was in on it and it is by design ... oh, just soemthing to ponder anyway.

I agree with you. I think it's 'payback time.' And if Dean should win, McAuliffe is out on his smarmy little ear. That wouldn't break anyone's heart, although he says he's retiring. Yeah, like Clark retired but wasn't fired. Hmmmm.
