You know, I heard tell that you can plant grass seed under the snow and it will sprout in the spring! Have you tried that?
My problem has always been, when I sow my seeds it turns dry and they die out! I think I'm going to try to do some seeds as soon as we are expecting more snow! Ground is indeed wet enough! Can't lose.

as my yard is currently UNDER ICE, it won't work NOW, but based on your post i may call the county agent for an opinion on planting grass in the winter!
