My own Rabbi, who participates in a local radio talk show, has a list of his favorite Christmas carols. He, and the Catholic and Protestant who are the other 1/3s of the show, have a "contest" each December to ask the callers' favorite Christmas carols. Though I disagree with my Rabbi on many things (he is as liberal as I am conservative, politically) I think one of the truly engaging, constructive things he does is to tell of his love of beautiful Christmas carols. (Music is music. Lyrics are lyrics. And when they come together as only a genius can do, who can argue with their spiritual content?) Irving Berlin (a good Jew who wrote a lot of great Christmas and Easter music) comes to mind!
