Ozzy Osbourne was seriously injured today in a quad bike accident in the grounds of his Buckinghamshire estate.
The 55-year-old rock star underwent emergency surgery after he broke his collarbone, six ribs and a vertebra in his neck.
His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, said his publicist Cindy Guagenti.
The operation was intended to lift the collarbone, which was believed to be resting on a major artery and interrupting blood flow to his arm. Surgeons were also trying to stem some bleeding into his lungs, according to the statement.
Osbourne was taking a day off from promoting the UK release of Changes, a duet with his daughter Kelly, when the accident occurred.
Guagentis office said no further information was immediately available. She did not disclose which hospital Osbourne was being treated at.
The Osbournes, the MTV reality show featuring the rocker, wife Sharon and their children, started production about a month ago on its third series.
It was not immediately known how the accident would affect production or how or whether it might be included in the series, an MTV spokeswoman said.
On Saturday, a story on the Los Angeles Times web site reported Osbournes claim that he was overprescribed a variety of powerful anti-psychotic and tranquillising drugs by a Beverly Hills doctor.
Osbourne said he developed a 42-pill per day habit that accounted for his odd behaviour on the hit show, including scenes in which he was seen mumbling, falling and appearing disoriented.
Earlier this month, Osbourne told a British newspaper he was sexually molested as a child and suffered emotional effects from the abuse long into adulthood.

"This talentless ne'er-do-well"
40 records, brilliant songwriting, writing all his own material, a band with many virtuoso musicians since 1981, invented a new genre of music, millions of fans over 35 years of performing steadily (longest of any rock musician in history), 100's of millions of dollars made with music never written to be popular, comedic wit, kind soul, loved by just about everyone who has ever known him, helping 100's of musicians 'make it' and establish their careers without asking for a penny in return...
If you want to criticize OZZY for his personal weaknesses and prof mistakes over 35 years of being in the public eye, go ahead.
But a knowledgeable observer cannot call him talentless and a failure.
OLD FUD indeed! The attitude of your generation has contributed to the power of PC and the stereotype of Republicans as closed minded or hateful. The days of ostracizing the young in the party for diiferent tastes are over. Socialists are using this attitude against us right up until now, with their 'intolerance' bit.
Thanks for that.

It's not like Ozzy has ever represented himself as a role model. Hell, I'd vote for him. Better him than some of the professional hyenas running for office! I can see Teddy trying to fillibuster his bills....SHARONNNN!!!
Considering Ozzy's net worth, it obviously pays to be a talentless ne'er do well. Especially when it comes with a devoted wife and kids. Ozzy isn't a bad person, and by going to see a doctor, he was trying to slay his demons the legal way. Too bad he picked the wrong doctor...
We love you Ozzy!!!!
