Barb's hubby is close to Bush/Rove. Expect her to get the Rove push. She's got at least 10 different things that make her a great candidate.

Yeah, but Barb's not bad looking either-- plus Barb is a bit older. Women will prefer the more experienced Barb to the hardly-done-anything-in-life Steph.

I am proud to live in a state that is willing to convict someone who was, quite honestly, a local hero. It definitely offsets the embarrassment of Daschle.

I'm no authority on SoDak politics but I live close enough...so I'll throw my two cents in.

SoDak may be a GOP state but it is very capable of electing Democrats to office (Daschle and Johnson anyone?). In 2002, Stephanie Herseth pushed Janklow strongly and made him work harder than he had in quite a while.

Herseth will start out with an advantage and a potentially divisive GOP primary (it may happen, you can't rule it out) will divide the party, allowing her to win.

John Thune CAN beat Stephanie Herseth. I'm not so sure if any of the other potential candidates can.

No special treatment for politicians of any stripe.

Wholeheartedly agree. Also would add, "No special treatment for celebrities of any stripe.

"Seems like I saw where Damian "Football" Williams, the guy who smashed a brick against Reginald Denny's head was found guilty of a murder earlier today. Another small victory for the judicial system today."

Do you have a link to that story?

Diabetes is a serious illness, and I don't think most Americans knows how it affects us on a daily level. I guess the jury just threw the "reasonable doubt" doctrine into the trash.

Janklow received 12 speeding tickets from 1990 to October 1994. He was elected to a third term as governor a month later and never received another ticket in the state.

Yet Moody County Deputy Sheriff Aas testifies that in Dec. 2002, Janklow was going 92, and locked in on radar at 86 mph. So why didn't he get a ticket? Maybe this is unclear reporting by Mr.Walker at AP, and he should have said that Janklow never received a ticket in the state after 1994 while he was governor.

Anyway, it does seem Janklow got special treatment, considering he received 12 speeding tickets in 4 years between 1990 and 1994,with no tickets thereafter. Yet, he admits on the House floor in 1999 he speeds. (And from what I can tell, we are talking serious speeding, not just "going with the flow of traffic."

I'd love to hear Ted Kennedy's comments on this case. Perhaps he'd show great affection for Janklow - seeing as they have vehicular manslaughter in common.

They should all be arrested and give this country a break for passing MORE laws and regulations that are smothering innovation and RUINING our country.

You know something is amiss when a CONDOR has more PRE-NATAL rights then does a human fetus and where killing a NON-WHITE is MORE serious than KILLING a WHITE.
