Russia Says U.S. Planned Shevardnadze's Exit Long Ago

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said Saturday Moscow believed the United States might have planned for Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze's ouster weeks before a peaceful revolution toppled him.

Ivanov also harshly criticized Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for saying during a visit to Tbilisi Friday that Moscow was in breach of its obligation to withdraw forces from Georgia, and suggested Rumsfeld was ignorant of the essence of the deal he was speaking about.

How did Georgia get's it's name? Honoring a British king? I find that hard to believe.

In Russian it's called Gruziya, and a man from there a Gruzin. Where the 'Georgia' part comes in, I'm not sure, perhaps in Gruzinskiy language it's something similar. Or it may just be like that Munich/Muenchen Cologne/Koeln Geneva/Genf thing.
