I do NOT want a leader who know "what it's like to be poor".....I want someone who knows how to help people be NON-POOR
Devil's Advocate says, "So why do we want a president who speaks poorly and plays up his 'Joe Blow' persona, eschewing his entire Ivy league and prep school experience and Greenwich, CT childhood?"
I WANT my president to be smarter than me! I understand the implications of a Yale/Harvard degree have to many Americans, but still, I prefer to have an educated, worldly president. This has always been a thorn in my side WRT Bush. He revels in the fact he never owned a passport and that's he's from a small town in Texas, etc. He should be proud of his education and successes... then again, he did win the presidency, so what the hell do I know. Maybe just cause I live in CT in the belly of the beast, I don't know.

I guess I've NEVER heard him "revel in the fact he never owned a passport".....and, yes, he's playing to the "stupid" masses, who also vote. Hopefully, we see the smarter side of him....but, I know what you mean, it's just that with the dumbing down of America, I think politics is dumbed down, too.

With respect, the President went to Yale as a legacy. Also, these days, a Harvard or Yale edamacashun ain't what it used to be.
Having a fancy sheepskin doesn't necessarily make one smarter.
