HOWARD DEAN BELIEVES ROE V WADE SHOULD BE OVERTURNED!!!!!
Fox News Sunday ^ | 12/7/03 | Mike Wallace

Posted on 12/08/2003 7:57:05 AM PST by Zansman

This from the Fox News Sunday interview with Howard Dean:

WALLACE: But aren't those legitimate issues, whether it's a woman's right to choose versus right to life, whether there should a national ban on assault weapons, gay rights?

I mean, aren't those issues -- I have to say, I remember back in 1988, because I was covering the campaign, when Michael Dukakis said that the campaign is about competence, not ideology, and the Republicans killed him on that.

Don't American voters care about values?

DEAN: They care about values. And there are a lot of different kinds of values. My attitude is, each state's going to make their own kinds of decisions about these difficult issues that we're -- you know, the social issues that divide us.

IMHO, had Wallace been paying enough attention to Dean's BS, he could have pressed him on his implication that (specificaly) the abortion issue should be left up to the states i.e. against Roe v Wade.

Had Wallace called him on it he obviously would have stumbled around and back tracked. As it is, if I were Kerry, Gephardt, etc... I'd be sure to use it in the next debate.

On the other hand, the rest of the dwarves appear to be too afraid of ticking off the extreme left by attacking Dean too hard. I wish they'd crank it up a notch or two.

Roe v Wade is dogma for 'rats. One of the 8 other dwarfs will revisit this with Dean.

No way. Roe V. Wade is dogma for demos. If he had pressed Dean, Dean would have said that he supports Roe V. Wade with all the zealotry in his leftist soul.

Dean's just trying to pull a fast one here. He'll avoid discussing issues like abortion and gay marriage in the south by dismissing them as state issues unworthy of discussion in a race for federal office. Of course, they SHOULD be state issues, but in the case of abortion, it no longer is, and neither will gay marriage be a state issue for long (as the Texas sodomy ruling previewed what to expect there).

So Dean once again is using a strategy that presumes southerners are stupid. We'll hear him say such-and-such is a state issue, and even though it no longer is one, we'll believe him and not bother worrying about his stance on that issue. Or so he thinks.

But it won't work, because southerners aren't stupid. This guy is so damned arrogant that it's unbelievable. He's like some smart-ass frat boy who bets his buddies that he can con some chick into letting him have sex with her, using the lamest pick-up lines in history. I think he actually believes he's so much superior to southerners that he can manipulate and conquer us with the political equivalent of pick-up lines. It's become an obsession with him, a matter of his personal pride, that he will be able to deceive enough southern "yokels" to pick off several southern states.

It won't work, for the simple reason that he isn't smarter than we are. The opposite may, in fact, be true.

Uh-huh. If Dean gets in the presidency, the first thing he will do is put Constitutionalists into the judgeships, as opposed to liberal interpreters. Unbelieveable.

However, Dean is a skilled politician. We should not underestimate him.

If the dems abandon ABORTION GUN CONTROL AND GAY RIGHTS and support the WAR ON RADICAL ISLAM they would be shoo ins to control congress and probably the presidency

They would lose the fringe groups to Nader etc but would pick up a lot of former dems who left them over these issues and who aren't comfortable with the Country Club GOP types( who really look down on them )

But Bill and Hill won't let that happen even though Dean is leaning that way

Gonna be a real DIRTY CAT FIGHT.
I hope Dean is up to it
