It is possible that Laci's death was the result of complications from the fight, but Scott's conversations with Amber and his arranging an alibi do make it seem like he was planning her death. Maybe he just got lucky!

Most people treat pregnant women as though they were made of glass. They say Scott was away from home often. If they'd really gotten into a big fight, I think a far more typical reaction by the husband would have been to say "to hell with this!" and drive off in his car.

But, okay, suppose he did stay to fight it out. Once she was seriously hurt, why wouldn't he then have called 911 or driven her to the hospital? A normal person would come to a screeching halt as soon as they realized that it had gotten into serious injury. Plus, one would think that even a husband who hated his wife would still have thought, "Well, it's not the baby's fault... maybe we can at least keep him from harm."
