I also got something that changed my homepage.
When I go in and chage it back to FreeRepublic [what else?], my preferred download lasts only until the next time I load the browser when I am returned to this other homepage which is the new default.
Any suggestions?

You'll have to remove it in registry, but I would not attempt to tell you how to do that here.

Any suggestions? Switch to Mozilla Firebird.
It is free, fast, pop-up free, virus resistant and simply better than all the rest.

My home page goes to "about blank" whatever that is. Every time I reboot I have to change it back. Would appreciate a solution to this problem.

That is a startpage virus perhaps. Look it up on google or do a computer search for viruses with housecall when you ca.
It's a free virus search frm the net.
Often can remove the virus for you as well.

Is search-space.com your homepage usurper? That's what happened to me to. I stupidly didn't bother renewing my McAfee firewall when it announced it had expired, and that very day, I got hacked into-including by some sleazy porno site which now pops up every once in a while. Now in addition to to renewing my firewall, I have to go by some sort of file-cleaner (grrrrrr....)

I have that problem too. I downloaded Spybot and ran it and still have the problem.
