PRESIDENT BUSH
He's a cowboy and should be proud of it

President Bush is a cowboy. That's what his detractors love to call him. The Eurotrash who envy America think he's a cowboy. The elitists in the media who can't stomach someone who speaks with a Texan accent think his actions are that of a cowboy. His would-be replacements, who are yapping about his policies but have no alternative to diminish the threat of the terrorists, deride his cowboy mentality. They all hate that he won't cede his responsibilities to third parties like the U.N.
Since when did "cowboy" become a pejorative in America? When I think of a cowboy, I think of a man who works hard. A man who would defend his family and neighbors from threats. A cowboy is honest and fair dealing. And a cowboy definitely would act when it was right even if he couldn't convince others to act. He would above all else fight for what's right. When someone calls President Bush a cowboy there are only two reactions. Middle America thinks it a good thing. Those in Paris, Manhattan and the foaming-at-the-mouth Bush-haters that make up the Democratic Party's primary voters think it's an insult of the highest order.

Similarity of the names? (No, it wasn't me; just speculating.)
Anyway, it's a good letter. I would add that just as a shepherd cares for his sheep, a cowboy cares for his cows. Just think, if they had had more cows in the Holy Land a couple of thousand years ago, we might have had the parable of the Good Cowboy instead of the Good Shepherd.

Probably just a coincidence.

Since when did "cowboy" become a pejorative in America? It hasn't. The Bushwhackers are hoping that it will come to be thought of as a pejorative the way we've been able to make the word "Liberal" to be a pejorative.
It ain't gonna work. As usual, they are banging their head against a brick wall hoping we will get a headache. They're weird like that.

The ones who think 'cowboy' is an insult are so out of it all they remember is whoever-it-was in spaghetti westerns. That's what they're referring to. The movies where you could always see orange peels in the street because that's what the camera crew had been snacking on in Tunisia or wherever they filmed it.
The only answer is to say, 'Yes he is a cowboy. Let's you and I go get a job as a cowboy somewhere.'
Last December helping sort cattle my horse and I got hit amidships by a big mean cow. We went up in the air. It was a kind of outer space feeling.

The Eurotrash who envy America think he's a cowboy.I had never watched Joe Millionaire before, but watched part of the this year's pilot episode about a month ago. There must have been 15 Euro-Bimbos in the competition. Granted, they were all very *physically* attractive, but none of them had any personality, all empty-heads.
When they were told that "Joe" was a cowboy (actually in real life he is a rodeo cowboy), ho boy, were they seething with contempt. Apparently the "superior" Euros are taught to have contempt for American cowboys.
Then, they found out "Joe" was "worth" $80 Million. Next scene, they are giddy with love for cowboys, getting drunk on champagne, wearing cowboy hats, dancing with each other to country-western tunes. IOW, those Euro-Bimbos didn't believe in much of anything but $$$. Phonies.
In a sick way, I liked watching these empty-heads being exposed on national TV for what they really are.

Cowboy was a favored epithet by the Left for the ever-growing-in-stature Reagan. It means "quick on the trigger," irrational, all that good stuff. It was how Reagan was prone to lurch for the nuclear button at any moment. Similarly, in the view of the Left, Bush has the same mindless lust for war.

Uh, George, when you said you'd go get Osama? Either you were bragging but couldn't deliver, or you were jaw flappin'.

I had not - thanks for the ping.
The term Cowboy represents all things good to me, so much so I use it to describe myself.
The Cowboy Spirit (really the American Spirit) has been at the forefront of history for over 200 years. Our fight for Freedom, the First Flight, our quest to land on the moon - even the boys from the Bronx in WWII had it.
When a person uses Cowboy as a derogatory remarks - You can bet that they are on the other side of the field in our battles for Truth, Justice and the American way.
