The US was remarkably consistant in his return. The people of the US have always and consistantly supported the familly and there's just no way to convince them or me that returning the child to his father was a bad thing. If his mother had lived then we'd be having a different discussion and chances are the boy would still be in the US.

Like I say, the US system is designed to protect the familly against outside interference from people like you. The state can not go into a home and rip a child away from his parents (in cases where the child is not being abused) because the state disagrees with how he is being raised.

Not one judge in this country will give YOU a voice in the court to say Elian should be ripped away from his biological father because YOU disagree with the father's politcis. And thank God for that.

It's as if you didn't read a word I wrote. It is not the father's politics. The father has no rights. And, no, the USA was not consistent in the action. By US law, Elian had full protection to stay in this country. The law was twisted to allow his re-introduction into communism. That is shameful. And if we could really know the truth, I doubt Elian's father wanted Elian to be return. But the father's wants and desires played no part in any of this saga.

"The US was remarkably consistant in his return."

Do a Google search on the name Walter Polovchak.

If you don't know how to do that, then go here and see how Elián's case would have been handled with a conservative in the White House.

Last but not least...how comfortable are you on your convictions when in order for you to believe that the right thing was done in the case of Elián Gonzalez, you must believe that Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Janet Reno, The National Council of Churches, and Fidel Castro all took a stand in the name of parental rights, and that you stood with them?
