The cheese on that is fine, just not the pasta (and on some low carb diets, Sugarbusters for one, whole wheat pasta is okay).

I too am lucky I guess. I am not thin, but not fat either. I am trim. I am 5' 7" and will go from 155 to 175 and float in between there for the last 10 years. I am engaged to be married (hint about age there) so I intend a little dieting so I can be at optimum fighting weight for my wedding.

My problem is not food, it is exercise. I have gotten so busy with life, work, etc., I have all but stopped working out - that is my main failing now.

Well my nephew has in his business travels made numerous trips to Italy

He said he is amazed on how unfat the people are compared to Americans

I am sure the typical Italian diet is NOT LOW CARB

Reality is that BOTH low carb and low fat diets eliminate a hell of a lot of the same foods
Pies cakes nachos chips corn curls sodas booze cookies etc etc

LOw carbs eliminate them because of the carbs
Low fats eliminate them because of the fat content and also empty sugar foods like sodas candy etc

Low fat diet also stress Whole grains and veggies and fruits

Atkins has fruits and vegies too. It's just in the amounts each person can handle. Isn't it nice to understand one size does not fit all?

I love carbs and don't intend to give them up. I found I can eat anything I want as long as I workout hard 5 to 7 days a week. I'm 5'5, 125 lbs, and will be 48 years old this week.

I did 700 situps, 700 pushups and walked for 2 hours yesterday. A year ago I could barely walk up a flight of stairs and do 10 situps. I lost 40 pounds by modestly changing my diet and working out. At 45 I was well on my way to 200+ lbs if I didn't change my behavior. I am down to 5'11 and 150lbs. I feel great. I no longer have back pain and knee pains.

Congratulations, I know you have to feel great about your accomplishments! I lost about 36 pounds 2 1/2 years ago because of an illness. When I started to feel better I didn't want to gain it back so I joined the gym.

Thanks. I was justing pointing out that losing weight is hard work. That annoying pitchman Jarrod did a whole lot of walking as well as eating Subway sandwiches..
