Shawn Steele, with the CALIFORNIA Republican PartyI estimate that there were about sixty or seventy-five people at this event, including the man who INVENTED the concept of these "domes" for the homeless, Craig Chamberlain. Craig is a Vietnam veteran who worked with Buckminster Fuller (and his geodesic domes) in the 1970's, and flew here today for this event from his home in Salt Lake City.
His company MANUFACTURED Omni-Sphere domes back in 1990's, and he his flying to Peru later this month to establish manufacturing facilities there.
(Note: the cost per dome is about $6,500.)

While I generally promote CONSERVATIVE causes, not HOMELESSNESS projects, the two obviously overlap in this case. One of the objectives of yesterday's event was to force the Republican party to address SOCIAL issues, like homelessness. Many of us believe that the REPUBLICAN party is not only more trustworthy in matters of national security, but also in important local issues - like solving homelessness.
"Faith-based" initiatives, the development of personal responsibility, and the introduction of market-based incentives would go a long way towards improving the lives of MANY who are now in the streets.
It would be WONDERFUL for the Republican party - particularly here in California to earn the support of the black and Latino communities by providing SOLUTIONS to their problems - and to rescue them from the "homelessness PIMPS" of the Democratic machine, who profit from their continued pain, IMHO.

That SHOULD have been:Walt Allen, Mayor of Covina (1st Vice Chair of the RPLAC) was there to represent Linda Boyd.
(Linda was meeting with the State Party yesterday.)Al Han (Chairman of the Chairman's Circle of the RPLAC Finance Committee) was also at this event, but not to represent Linda.
Sorry for the confusion.
