Pray for W and The Truth
OK, OK - I'll take what I said back. But I insist that if you re-read what I said; I didn't call you any sort of Dean, I just compared your recognition of an extinct college football conference to Dean's recognition of an extinct governmental regime.
I never realized I was speaking to such a FB genius.
I'm certainly no football (assuming you meant football when you typed FB) genius, but I am professionally adept at statistical analysis, and I'm an avid fan.
I have not analyzed Oklahoma's stats...LSU will solve that problem one way or the other.
I did look closely at USC's stats because I thought I would learn yesterday that the Sugar Bowl would be LSU-USC, and as I am a betting man, I find that my heart often misleads me. (I'm a former LSU player and LSU grad.)
Unfortunately it won't happen. The coaches and ADs want it, but the college presidents don't, because the BCS teams split a heckuva lot of money (8 teams splitting like $45+ million, while the other 40-some teams split like $30 million).
I even heard a local college president say this weekend that playoffs would cut into finals, and extra games would stress the players. I about fell out of my chair - that same college has their men's basketball team playing in New York this week (during finals), and the women are also on the road this week (during finals). Many other sports play through finals (including I believe Baseball). College basketball plays a longer season, more games, and more travel (and usually further distances) than football. Division I-AA, II, III, all have football playoffs (during finals).
I wonder when people will get tired of hearing excuses for why there isn't a playoff system. This is the only sport in a single division in the NCAA that isn't decided by a playoff system.
I guess the fans don't mind when a USC doesn't get into the championship game or a Nebraska does, because they obviously aren't putting enough pressure on the schools.
