"Fiscal conservative" Arnie got spanked for trying to borrow money to keep a grossly bloated government inflated. And his buttkisser supporters just can't understand why Republican legislators didn't line up behind him and help him do the deed.

Are there enough, in fact , to have accomodated his request?

Wrong. This whole measure had to do with the spending cap, not the borrowing. Democrats didn't want to consent to such a strong cap, while Republians want a stronger cap. The concern particularly has to do with the ability to declare an "emergency" of any variety to circumvent the cap. CA GOP are boneheads- they should have voted for the bill (it would have failed anyways). Then, they should have exclusively blamed Democrats for risking the bankruptcy of the state. Too bad the GOP here has no political chops. Arnold will likely pull off the coup though by going to the people.
