Watch what they do, they'll SAY anything.
You may be confusing Republicans with conservatives.
Conservatives have core principles from which they generate a political philosophy.
Republicans are politicians whose job it is to gain control of the levers of power and maintain it. Principles are useful insofar as they promote the accession to office.
See the difference?
There is no such thing as a RINO. If the guy is in office, he's a Republican. Period.
Think CINO. Conservative In Name Only. That's what we have in the Supreme Court and the White House. The only real conservative in the Congress is probably Ron Paul.

If Ron Paul is the only real conservative in Congress, it appears that there aren't many conservatives in the US. I doubt that Ronald Reagan meets your definition of a conservative either. He ran a deficit and raised taxes on more than one occasion. Nevertheless, he's my idea of a real conservative. He built a real majority for conservative Republicans. I don't like big government or the current spending trends, but I dislike what the Dims would do even more.
