These people are rabid psycho's!!

All these repressive school policies share a common idea; children are being trained to live in a police state and think of it as perfectly normal
The same with surveillance cameras everywhere- even some people on this forum defend their omnipresence.
What is coming is frightening.

This isn't the first time we've heard stories like this. We've heard nail file stories and other over the counter med stories. They were pretty clear about 'zero tolerance' in the story.

Zero-Tolerance = Zero Discretion = Zero brains. There isn't much to add to that! Excellent summation!

Whole country darn near FREAKS OUT over the Winter flu virus--to an extent not seen in any other country--(probably has to do with the over cleanliness manners and diet and exercise of the USA...but that's another topic)--then some poor kid gets busted by PC run amok, for a having common medicine.
Only in America. Sometimes neurotic, contradictory and over-reactionary in some of the strangest places.
Maybe they'll bring out the photos on milk cartons again??

Zero-Tolerance = Zero Discretion = Zero brains. That's the point isn't it? Black and white rules keep us from having to think.
To: EggsAckley
Everytime I here about one of these examples of lunacy I cant help to think that the school is actually teaching the kid a lesson that will come back to haunt them.
The kid will no doubt learn an abiding hatred for the school system and government in general.

Relieving people of the burden of making decisions is the whole idea. Everyone is treated the same, and you have a strong defense in any lawsuit. But not everyone IS the same. People have different health issues which may require them to carry prescription or non-prescription medications which, in some cases, can be the difference between life and death.
Someday, this zero-tolerance policy will cost a young boy or girl with asthema his or her life.
To: EggsAckley
I think they do this to get them in alternative school where they probably get more money per pupil.

The drug rules concerning Advil, inhalers and other medication are ridiculous.
As pointed out by another poster, these kids can obtain birth control AT SCHOOL paid for by us, without our consent or knowledge. How then, do the NEA nazis figure they can stick their noses in our teenagers purses, when they don't want us (parents) involved in our child's decision to take birth control.
In Minnesota, clinics are in the schools, complete with condoms and birth control, and abortion counseling.

A Republican governor signed the state law. Personally I think this level of stupidity transcends political affiliation.
How do you feel about mandatory minimum sentences? They allow for zero discretion.
To: My2Cents
Sorry, I can't give you any, I could get expelled. I think it might even go on my permanent record. Just get over it.

Because everything is criminalized today. Cops are patrolling schools, ticketing kids for things that principals used to handle.
Parents better wake up. By sending your kid to public schools with these policies, you're taking a big chance that your kid could be charged with a crime for behavior that was once handled by the school.
It's not worth it.

Stupidity and incompetence both should be felonies.
In combination, it should be mandatory 10 years with no possibility of parole.

That was the first thing that caught my eye. It seems
that almost all stories that show evidence of some type
of familial dysfunction exhibit this.

So, your're trying to tell me that Advil is specifically not allowed on the person of a school student in the entire state? If so, why would the school board be involved in the case if they are not allowed to use any discretion on their part. I don't believe it for a minute that the school administrators or school board had no control whatsoever in the outcome of this specific case.
How do you feel about mandatory minimum sentences? They allow for zero discretion.
What a pathetic question that is totally unrelated to a young school girl carrying Advil. Is it you that thinks zero tolerance will bring about great changes in the system?
