It seem to be a basic tactic of the left to influence public opinion by spewing deliberate lies, hoping that by the time a rebuttal is mounted, they will have achieved their objective. Today, I wrote a letter to the Seattle Times disputing the claim of a guest-columnist that the Bush administration "plans to revoke the treatment of mercury as a toxic substance." Unfortunately, combatting these lies is damned near a full-time job.
