You ban trolls, you don't tag and release and monitor their movements... right? The troll is humanely shot with a tranquilizer dart and gently lifted onto a sterile table. Then concerned scientists tag it and later they release it into the wild. Later, migration patterns are checked.

I think I liked the "wand up the nose" method better.

Not the same guy as MrLeRoy. Neither was The Coach.
That makes me wonder then, if these swine take a seminar on how to post here, like seminar callers on Rush's show. I do note he nails them pretty quickly, too.

O just found that profile page from this thread, and no wonder I don't get much work done - 7,500+ replies! Of course, half of them probably say Ping! :-)

Many posters appear to me as paid workers from orgs &/or governments that have positions to defend. These sort appear too committed & unemotional to be involved here for mere personal reasons.

I find this all very interesting. But for someone like me, I am gone or months at a time without computer and freerepublic. But then again, I don;t post too much because I don't have much to say.
Conservative or not, I find freerepublic the best place to read news from around the world on a multitude of subjects. The commentary can be illuminating, provocative, humorous and troll...
Now about Reagan, I didn't vote for him in 80 or 84 and didn't like many of the aspects of Iran Contra and don;t believe he should replace FDR on the dime....(maybe the Sacajawea sp)...
But those were earlier days and with age and information, opinions change, thus I find myself here at freerepublic. Hell, I'll finally admit it, I voted for Clinton TWICE!!! But what broke my back was Clinton and the democrats taking foreign campaign money and giving the Chinese the nuclear jewels...That is treason in my book...I also didn;t like it that he cheated on his wife....(So why did I vote for him in the first place?, heck I forget now....)
Alright thats finally off my chest guys and gals...

Thanks for the work of posting that info.
Personally, I have always found it easy to sniff out the operatives as well as the mischievous trolls. I've noticed that lots of long-time freepers can nail them pretty fast. The old "Bush-has-lost-my-vote" and "Bush-has-betrayed-us" gags are laughable at this point. The mods pick it up and zap them most of the time, depending on their mood.
The really good operatives, the ones who are paid, will take plenty of time to establish forum confidence. They have great patience, and their digs are usually subtle. But sooner or later, their stench finds its way through the monitor the same way it finally dawns on you that you must have stepped in fresh dog crap twenty minutes ago.

With millions of pieces of traffic to scan of course an average joe blows daily life would be a better read than live burst commo between ElvisBinLaden and X-42.

Many of us have commented, that if their posting and replying on FR had to be a paid job. They spend more time posting and replying on FR than an old retired guy like me.

The focus & 'single-mindedness', frequently absent any evidence of emotion or passion leads me to this peculiar observation. Such posters ( as I suspect ) seem to have only a single interest which drives their activities.
This is a most opportune place to do such work-that is, to sway public opinion or blunt some who may create interest in views which are threatening to some governments or organizations. One can easily imagine the only real 'cost' is the time of some embassy or consulate staffer, or the time of some corporate person who can write well.
I should imagine that software may exist to display such posters on a fairly simple list-sorted by topic.

Actually, you can do what you noted, fairly well with the software provided to us on FR.
If you see posts from a poster new or old that ring alarm bells or seem too pat of a response, take your mouse and click their posting name.
When the home page for that poster/replier comes up, click on the "Find in Forum". If they have been using FR as you noted above, they have left quite an electronic trail, (if they have been posting for awhile). If the poster is a real new poster, hesheit, is probably a troll.

ah to get a hold of the master list of "troll" id's.
Can't you block the "from" logs with a firewall?
To: bvw; I Am Not A Mod
35 - The - "Also visited sites" are very strange. I checked them all out, and except for one - family.com, they are all wacko leftist/anarchist sites - very strange in deed. No Drudge, No WorldnetDaily, no normal conservative sites.
The books bought, however, tell a totally differnt story.
So, something is definitely not right.

I'm not interested in reports on trolling. Recently, the admin moderator called a 4.5 year marine, who served in a mid-east embassy, a troll. The guy was pointing out that Bush did little or no investigations of the Clinton wrongdoings. He had been on this site for over two months and had established himself as a conservative. He asked the owner several times for an explanation and got no response. He left the site shaking his head.
After the week the owner contacted me, after I asked what was up with the guy I brought to FR, and JR said maybe the guy wasn't a troll.
Good stuff huh?
