Boycott planned over license bill Protest organizers ask Latinos not to shop or work on Dec. 12

The word is getting around. Wendy Garcia, 19, is neither going to work nor going shopping on Friday, Dec. 12. Ditto for Ana Flores, 46, and Reynaldo Guzman, 32.

These Latino immigrants -- angered by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's repeal on Wednesday of the driver's license bill that would have given illegal immigrants the right to drive -- will participate in a planned "boycott": a one-day economic strike in which Latinos are encouraged to not go to work, school or buy anything.

Oh gee I can see it now, the country is going to collapse because illegal aliens will stop shopping at Wal-Mart.

A border patrol agent posting on the site says he heard rumors of increased interior enforcement in the future and if true it's about time. I'm sick to death of the whining coming from these lawbreakers.

Why doesn't this lady just apply for citizenship?

Because she's so selfish and arrogant, she didn't want to fill out the forms, pay the fees, take the citizenship test, and wait her turn. She preferred to jump the line ahead of all the legal immigrants, sneak across the border, and then demand all of the privileges of citizenship.

Welcome to FR. Some people do not like to be troubled by obeying rules. My parents came here legally. My mother was last of those passing through rigorous imnigration. She came from a former British colony, and for some reason US is not particularly kind to the British and those coming from Commonwealth countries.

The sheer nerve of it!!

I hear you. What about that busload of them that is touring the country protesting? How much easier could they have made it for enforcement. But...no deportations.

Yes you are right. My best friend is from Ghana. She is becoming a US citizen and even that it is costing her a lot of money. Her mother can't get a visa to come here, so she has to become a citizen. My parents came here legally. This is a slap in the face of legal immigrants to me. Besides what makes the Mexicans so special over Haitians, and Cubans? If a Cuban doesn't get that foot on dry land, back he/she goes.

stop shopping at Wal-Mart.

I was just thinking, as I clicked into this thread, that the 12th would be a GREAT day for me to go to our local WalMart here...crowd-free?

Here's an idea. How about if all the illegal aliens take one day to NOT go to the County Hospitals? How about they NOT drive on the roads that day? What if they keep all their kids out of the public schools on that day? How about if all the "day laborers" refrain from hanging around on street corners that day, openly urinating and defecating on the streets and harassing women who walk by? How about if they all refrain from blasting their music, taking shopping carts from stores and abandoning them, spray-painting graffiti, and committing crimes that day? Then citizens and legal immigrants might get a taste of what it would be like in their towns without the illegal alien invasion.

Since the word "Latino" is masculine, does this mean the "Latinas" (which is feminine) can still shop on December 12?

I think (and I am going back 20+ years to HS Spanish), that when referring to a group, the masculine form of the word takes precedence. So, "Latino" in this case, refers to all of them.

Does "not working" include not jumping the border on the 12th as well?

It will also give us a chance to brush up on our English.

None of us has a right to drive.

Driving is a privelege; One which Illegals do not at all deserve, in this country.

What should be the policy of the Federal, State and Local Governments, and the employers and school administrators:

If you are illegal, you will be deported.

If you do not show up for work, you will be fired.

If you do not attend class, you will be expelled.

And how do the majority of the illegals plan on protesting? It is like a bunch of obese people protesting calories by visting McDonalds and Krispy Kreme!
