HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - A lawyer who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge filed by Whitewater prosecutors died Thursday when the small plane he was piloting crashed while trying to land at an airport, officials said.
John Haley, 72, who was once the personal lawyer of former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, had recently joined a new law firm. A partner, Peter B. Heister, confirmed Haley's death.
One passenger, Farish Kincaid, 70, also was killed in the crash. Authorities said the men, both from the Little Rock area, apparently were due at a business meeting in Harrison.
Haley and Tucker were accused in 1995 of setting up a sham bankruptcy to hide profits from a business deal. Haley pleaded guilty and was fined and ordered to pay restitution.
Tucker pleaded guilty in the case, and was also convicted in a separate trial on fraud charges involving James and Susan McDougal, the partners of President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Whitewater land deal. Tucker was sentenced to probation and home detention.
The Clintons were never charged in connection with Whitewater.
Haley's Bonanza single-engine, two-seat aircraft crashed in a ravine about 300 yards south of the Boone County Airport in northwestern Arkansas, Sheriff Danny Hickman said.
The National Transportation Safety Board planned an investigation.

How do you sleep at night with nightmarish thoughts like that?
Heaven help us that woman never is elected to anything. It's still doubtful she won legitimately her senate seat.

Maybe her willingness to do the time instead of talking will be enough insurance.

Paging Fahmy Malek.....Then-Governor Bill Clinton's state medical examiner, Fahmy Malek, ruled the deaths accidental, claiming that the boys had fallen asleep on the tracks in a marijuana-induced stupor.
What a guy. They fell asleep on the railroad tracks! Yeh!

Seems like Greta is in her "Scott/Lacy/Kobe/Michael/Dru" trance.......LOL! Isn't her show a damn waste of time? FoxNews is failing in that hour. And they're spending too much time on all those things ("Scott/Lacy/Kobe/Michael/Dru") at other times on the network, too.

Last Saturday, I finally got around to replacing the dishwasher that died about the same time Bill Clinton got promoted to First Husband; I couldn't believe the dust and dog hair that remained to be swept up from when it was first installed.

The plane, a two-seater, ended up in a ravine about 300 yards south of the airport after it attempted to land about 10 a.m.
The sheriff said the plane was destroyed and federal investigators would be on the scene tomorrow to try to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities believe the two men were on a business trip to Harrison.
City parks employees, working on a softball complex about a quarter-mile from the airport on the city's north side, said the airplane was dumping fuel before it made an attempt to land.
The parks workers said they could smell the fuel as it dropped around them.
Because of the crash, a plane bringing Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller to Harrison for a dedication ceremony at a post office and VFW park in Holiday Island didn't land. Rockefeller spokesman Steve Brawner says the plane turned around and Rockefeller returned to Little Rock.
One eyewitness told KOLR10 it looks as though the plane tried to make a hard left and then just nose dived into the ground.
Vincent Edgmon talked to the pilot on the radio just moments before the crash. He said nothing seemed wrong at the time. "There was no worry in his voice? No. I didn't get the impression that there was any concern with the pilot whatsoeve with his call. He just wanted info on landing which is normal for someone on approach," said Edgmon.
Pam Groen saw the crash. "When I was watching it came right over the rooftop, I mean it just cleared our building and it went to that tree right there, then almost touched that tall tree. That's how low it was."
Federal Aviation Administration officials were on the scene of the crash Thursday afternoon, but it would likely be Friday before investigators from the National Transportation Safety Administration arrived at the site. Authorities believe the two men were on a business trip to Harrison.
