If Rush did the crime, he should do the time.

(Some people say you shouldn't kick a man when he's down. I say there's no better time to do it.)

He should be treated no differently than anyone else in the same situation.
That's not what seems to be going on. They're fishing.

If Rush did the crime, he should do the time. Only if he does the same "time" as non-celebrity violators who did the same thing, which is generally "little to none".
To: CobaltBlue
Kendall Coffey, a former Federal Prosecutor from Miami, was just on MSNBC and he told Chris Jansing that the heat is obviously being turned up on Rush (or words to that effect).

How many who did what Rush supposedly did "do the time"?

Did you file your taxes correctly last year?
Ever Speed?
Ever violate OSHUA Regs?
Ever do anything non-violent that was possibly illegal?
Do you think it would be right if I spent the rest of the year looking for any possible breakage of law on your part so I could put you in jail?
Which is the greater evil/cost to society here?
Rush's non-violent, non-imposing self medication that cost the public $0.00.
Or the actions of the DA fishing in the past as I described above at great cost to the public and in neglect of more important endeavors for public good.
Ever wonder if the law referred to is perhaps immoral in the first place?
Besides last I heard the "spirit" of the mentioned law was to prevent DEALERS from Dr. Shopping for the purpose of resale, not end users from self-medicating.
Just asking.

If Rush did the crime, he should do the time. I agree. And I can tell you for a fact that, in my community, you could not get an investigation even started for "doctor shopping". And a request for a subpoena would get you laughed out.
