As long as I'm not related to Bubbles the Chimp. Then I regret to inform you that you are, as indicated by at least two dozen independent lines of evidence, including for example shared endogenous retroviruses.
In fact, not only are we related to apes in general, we are *still* apes. We're apes of the human variety (just as we are still mammals of the human variety, etc.). There is not a single identifying characteristic of the ape family which humans do not also share.

As long as I'm not related to Bubbles the Chimp. Isn't this a common Creationist mistake? Evolution doesn't say we came from monkeys- it just says we share a common ancestor with them.
