PLYMOUTH (Nov. 29) - An American Indian speaker gave thanks on Thursday for the group assembled to protest the traditional Thanksgiving holiday.

Moonanum James, co-founder of the United American Indians of New England, said he was thankful for the group of more than 300 protesters who gathered on top of Cole's Hill for the 34th annual National Day of Mourning.

"I felt generalized just by watching him," Best said. "He wanted to generalize us as anti-American just for having one gripe about this country."

Well, that one gripe happens to be that this country exists in the first place.

Protesters marched up Leyden Street, and down North Street back to the waterfront, stopping in front of Plymouth Rock, which co-founder and Lakota Sioux Mahtowin Munro said they were "proud to say they had buried many times at the National Day of Mourning."

"These streets are our streets. They do not belong to the Pilgrims."

I never knew the Sioux ranged that far east. Learn something new every day!

Professional pot-stirrers. Just after 911 I heard an NPR interview. Will never forget it. NPR went to that big reservation in South Dakota and found two guys in a truck. Those guys were very quiet and well spoken. They said that they were Sioux warriors and were ready to go to Afghanistan and were ready to join the US Marines to do it.

I have to think that those two guys are not alone and that they represent a goodly number of patriotic indians.

The arrival of Pilgrim settlers marked the start of oppression and racism toward the Indians, James said. "Your rock and your flag has killed millions and tragically it will kill millions more," he said.

What is the population numbers today of people of Indian descent versus then, James? I think before we make any proclamations regarding oppression we need to see if the race is being exterminated or allowed to flourish or fall of it own accord.

I would say it can't really be counted? A LOT of interbreeding occurred between "whites" and "Indians" (and black slaves as well), to the point where Indian genes are spread through a majority of the population, IMO.

"It's a curious gesture. It's very threatening," he said.

They (lefties, not necessarily Indians) really do hate the flag; I've experienced this firsthand on many occasions.

All you have to do is display one and their blood pressure goes through the roof.

Flags up, everyone. Annoy a lefty today!
