I'm acquainted with a fellow who gets tremendous mileage from his service as "a Navy SEAL" during VN, says he received the Navy Cross in a well-known battle there, did service in Cambodia, etc.
He doesn't speak one word of Cambodian or Vietnamese. He doesn't appear in any list of Navy Cross recipients, and is in no documented listing of the famous battle for which he says he received the Cross. He doesn't know the geography of Vietnam or Cambodia, even near places where he claims he served.
I could go on, but why bother?

Sounds a bit like Jessie Ventura.

If you think this fellow might not really be a SEAL, there are several web sites around that can assist in verifying his status. Some I've heard of are
http://www.veriseal.org and
http://www.authentiseal.org.
Anyone I've ever met who was a SEAL didn't talk much about what they did, and they don't think much of someone making false claims.

For a while, I kept meeting Navy veterans who were almost Navy SEAL's. They all passed the tests but were kept out on a technicality. One was only 5'6".

I'm acquainted with a fellow who gets tremendous mileage from his service as "a Navy SEAL" during VN.. Yeah, I'm confused. I've met more "Navy SEALs" in my local neighborhood bar than I ever met during 4 years in the Navy from '66-'70. Lots of Green Berets too, Marine Recon guys who've never heard of Chesty Puller, and Airborne Rangers who didn't know what a T-10 was.
Either some of them are "inflating their credentials", to be kind, or it looks like us old vets have all turned into a bunch of drunks. ;)

Because he dishonors all the SEALS (and all those who went there) who did fight and (yes sometimes) die there.
It's my opinion that this moral midget needs a good swift kick in the ass!
