Boo-freakin-hoo.
I prepared for the self-evident downturn in the economy by not having any credit debt in the first place.
If I lose my job, I'm screwed.
But at the risk of torquing anyone off -- everyone who got laid off at our plant deserved it and the company is better without them.
Don't tell me a sob story about some union rat or some marketing whiz who was making 200K.

I live in the "steel valley," where all the union drones are whining about the prospect of Pres. Bush eliminating tariffs against foreign steel. Keep in mind that these guys - with barely a high school education - are making around $80K per year for manual labor jobs. Gee, why do you suppose that Brasilian or Chinese steel is so relatively cheap, and why would U.S. automakers rather buy the foreign stuff?

Husband is getting laid off on Dec. 31. He's been offered 2 jobs both making more than what he did make.

I was so surprised because he is a software manager. I thought we were really in for tough times, but the good Lord keeps providing for my family.

My husband did not waste any time looking for a job. As soon as he heard that his office was shutting down and he would lose his job, he started making phone calls. I've been a SAHM for 9 years, and I put out my resume too. We called everyone that we both worked for.

All of the effort paid off.

SEASON'S GREETINGS!

I agree. They're just more lazy American's that probably didn't deserve jobs anyway. Better to hire illegal aliens and people from India. They don't complain and work longer hours for less.

Go Bush!

You are correct. Credit should only be used sparingly. For example, homes that appreciate, cars at near zero percent interest, emergencies that you know can be quickly repaid. Everything else should be pay as you go. Do not be seduced by the fat years. Prepare for the lean ones.
