Thank you, Anne Morse, for this update.
Jeffries has been exceedingly arrogant and smug on this matter. I'd like to return to A & F as a customer, but haven't been able to for years. Time to compliment A & F for their better judgement and corporate responsibility.

I always cringe when I walk by the store. They always have some picture of some shirtless male model blown up over 12' tall on display. When I went by their store over the weekend, it seems they toned down there usual hyper-sexual image for the Christmas season.

Great. If God meant us to be naked we would have been born... Oh. Never mind.

Dobson was joined in his efforts by former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs... Ahem: ...and current team owner of 2 recent NASCAR champions.
Gibbs has built his reputation on toughness and unflinching public dedication to his morals, ethics, and religion. His position as a NASCAR powerbroker makes him not just another idealogue, but a major player in the world of advertising and corporate sponsorship and image.

Good for them.
But too late; I'll never shop there again.

The only people who will have access to the quarterly in future, she added, are those who already have a subscription.Does this mean they won't sell more subscriptions, as well as not selling individual copies? As long as it's available at all, they're still a pornography retailer. And I noticed the store in the mall on Saturday. If the pictures were "toned down," I'd hate to see how they looked to start with!

The 2003 Christmas issue features dozens of naked young men and women in various sexual poses, including group sex. Yep. Usually two token girls surrounded by 12 guys, who didn't seem to be paying attention to the girls.
Ask any gay in New York about the "Abercrombie Boys" and you will see that they don't exactly make most of their money from modeling...

A&F was the real Muttly Headquarters in his youth. He would admire the imported Browning Automatic pistols, swing a Sauer bolt-action rifle, debrief salesmen...one of whom gave him his very first, treasured Kynoch .470 Nitro Express cartridge...but rarely ventured on to the other floors...the clothing departments.
Once a fellow customer in the '70s produced a loaded shotshell from his pocket and did himself in...the beginning of the end was upon us. However, I had not known about the publications until now.
Muttly feel truly soiled now...and will go out and roll around in the nice clean dirt...until he feels better...and is purified.

Thank you for this timely update! I will never shop there again. This last bit of rubbish is BEYOND THE PALE. We live near several of their stores and have young-adult nieces and nephews. They'll be getting books and jewelry and gummy bear worm vitamins for Christmas.

Interesting. I always thought A&F marketed to rich college kids living off mamma and daddy. Who else would pay $40 for a pre-distressed (worn out) gimme cap? I can't imagine anyone who listens to James Dobson ever buying anything at A&F anyway.
To: nickcarraway
Pressure on A&F may also have come from another source: Corporations that own other stores. Bill Johnson, says that his group had come up with a unique new strategy for getting a Grand Rapids, Michigan A&F to not only stop selling its raunchy quarterly, but also to get rid of the huge photographs of naked models that decorate the walls of every A&F store. This is interesting, because I was thinking of doing much the same thing with the local mall and its ownership and the other stores in the mall, especially those neighboring the A & F store.

To my knowlege they've never received one red cent of mine. Guess I've boycotted them all along without realizing. Good.

I'd never support them. It only encourages them. Perhaps if they really pay a price, they'll truly change their stripes. But I suspect they'll be back after the holiday season. PLEASE DON'T SUPPORT THEM.
