ERRATA:

After I posted the story about the ACLU giving the Marines a hard time about praying, I had some niggling questions about why I had not heard about it before. I contacted amom (who is hundreds of times better at research than me!) and asked her to verify it for us. She found out that it is false. I realize I got my cart before the horse, but at any rate, we are all about Truth here on FreeRepublic, arent we, even if we're late?

Thank you amom for your research and helping us to set the record straight.

Please be aware, everyone, that the information I posted from an email sent to me IS FALSE!!

The ACLU IS NOT TRYING TO ATTACK THE MARINE CORPS FOR PRAYING PUBLICLY!

MY APOLOGIES TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE ERROR.

Repost of amom's research findings post:

sorry this was a hoax...see Summary of the eRumor
The eRumor is accompanied by a picture with a group of Marines bowed in prayer.
It quotes an ACLU spokesperson named Lucius Traveler as saying that they are government employees who are on government property and that such prayer needs to be stopped.

The Truth
This is false.
The ACLU says it has not issued any opposition to military personnel praying and that there is no one named Lucius Traveler in their ranks.

We have not been able to find a "Colonel Jack Fessender" who is quoted in the eRumor as responding to the ACLU.

A good news bumps. Thanks for the update and am so glad the ACLU hasn't gone off the cliff on this one. (Just a million other ones!)

That's OK. They probably would want to do it, and pre-emptive prayer is a GOOD thing, despite what Kerry thinks.
