I received an email from a relative this morning alerting me to the report that the ACLU is making a flap about the Marines engaging in public prayer during an event organized for honoring the birthday of the Marine Corps. She also attempted to send me a picture, but it didnt arrive. I have not seen this story previously, but figured that many of you out there have been all too keenly aware of it. I post the following for those who, like myself, have somehow missed this story.

ACLU UPSET WITH MARINE CORPS
If you look closely at the picture above, [not available as I post this]you will note that all the Marines pictured are bowing their heads. That's because they're praying.

The incident took place at a recent ceremony honoring the birthday of the corps, and it has the ACLU up in arms. "These are federal employees," says Lucius Traveler, a spokesman for the ACLU, "on federal property and on federal time. For them to pray is clearly an establishment of religion, and we must nip this in the bud immediately."

When asked about the ACLU's charges, Colonel Jack Fessender, speaking for the Commandant of the Corps said (cleaned up a bit), "Screw the ACLU."

Our Father in Heaven,

We have been praying fervently for your intercession in our world. We have been asking you to awaken our brothers and sisters to a new appreciation of you and how you are the author of all our liberties and the raising of civilization from the mire of the Stone Age to the high technology and glory of a Free America and a Free West. We have been asking you for Victory over the enemies of Freedom and True Peace in the world.

This day we find that we are witnessing the beginning of the harvest of one of the fruits which you have painstakingly overshadowed in recent months. We are seeing the release of a movie, "The Passion of Christ," destined to be a fulcrum in bringing about the pattern of a new Great Awakening for which we have been aching. We ask that you will bless and protect all who had anything to do with the making of that movie. Bless each and every person who goes to see it, who have your blessed name written on their inward parts. We are grateful that the human creator of it had the humility to place it into your hands. We are grateful that he saw fit to see to it that the Lord's Supper was provided to any on the set who felt the need to commune with our Lord during the making of it, thereby creating the space and opportunity for you to enter in and guide the unfoldment of the project.

Father, take this offering from the hands of Mel Gibson and his cast,staff, and crew and bless it. Let it indeed be for the turning of hearts and the turning of the world. Let it be an instrument to bring mankind to its knees in loving adoration of the One Sent. Let it be an instrument of the righteous judgement of those who have by their own hard hearts separated themselves out from your heart and circle. Let it be for the strengthening of the bond and ties from your heart to those of each of your own children. Let it be for the cutting of the bonds of materialism and all manner of thralldom to that which is less than your divine plan for us. Let our meditations on the Passion of our Lord during this Lenten season be the inspiration for our ability to render unto you the acceptable offering and penance which will be for the furtherance of your own divine Will in our lives and world.

Father, there are those across the land who desire to have all public prayer and acknowledgement of our Judeo-Christian roots to be abrogated. There are those who are attacking our fighting men and women for praying in public for their beloved branch of service. Father, these things ought not to be. We beseech you to intercede in this situation and protect our sacred Constitution and its Bill of Rights. We ask that the Holy Spirit will sweep quickly across our nation and the world for that Great Awakening of hearts and souls to the realities of Truth, Goodness, and the ties to the Godhead which prayer affords.

We thank you Father for the sacrifice of our Lord. We thank you for the unified Godhead which you are through the mysterious persons of the Trinity. Bless us and seal us, and all for whom we are responsible, Father, in your own heart and in the Book of Life. We thank you, Father, for granting us and the world abundant Mercy and Healing according to thine own Will and timing and by the agency of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God.
