LOL, Liz (Ken, never call me--gag--Lizzie)...I'm deeply saddened that you think that Tommy crossed the aisle, so to speak...I doubt it..Mrs. D is quite attractive, a former Miss SD...so maybe we can speculate instead on just how she got her start as a very successful lobbyist....

Ken dear, how wonderfully naive you are. Naivete is so very attractive in a man.

Observe that nearly all of the world's most beautiful women--who had their pick of the rich and powerful--ended up alone. Beauty is not a guarantee of marital bliss by any means. Not only that, men with beautiful wives are continually visited with the specter of men lusting after their spouses. And who knows when the Senator's lady might capitulate to some tall, dark Ambasador, corporate exec, or, horrors, another Senator.

That makes for a stressful marital environment.

As to Linda's rise to the top of the lobbying ladder, maybe she called on clients wearing her Miss SD tiara and sash? LOL.

As someone who watches the aviation industry very closely (as my name implies) seeing Condit leave isn’t really a bad thing. Many people feel he just wasn’t the right person for the job of CEO. He did well running other parts of the company but he just did not have what it took to run Boeing successfully. He does have my respect for accepting responsibility for the lapses that occurred on his watch and stepping down.

Now, WHY THE HECK the B.O.D. picked Stonecipher to replace Condit is beyond me. This is the same guy who oversaw the demise of McDonnell Douglas which was taken over by Boeing in 1997. I shudder to think that soon the only manufacturer of commercial airplanes could be Airbus Industrie.

I think you might want to review Condit's actual record. I guess he was a brilliant engineer, but not a manager in any form. The 777 program is a fine example, great airplane, poorly executed on the business side.

I'm withholding opinions on Stonecipher. If he does launch the 7E7, that will be a break from McDonnell family tradition. Remember, Douglas was a fine company until it became McDonnell Douglas. All of the MD airplanes are warmed over DC products. Not one new airplane launched since the DC-10.

If Henry can get a new airplane launched with John McDonnell on the BOD, we might have a company yet.

If not, then Boeing will have told the airlines that this company is leaving commercial aviation. Imagine trying to sell a $140M product, with a 20 year life, that won't be supported in 4 years. 737 and 777 sales will probably cease.
