Across wire:

4th Infantry Division repelled multiple ambush attacks, at least 18 Iraqi attackers, 5 US soldiers were wounded. No reported deaths.

Attacks were highly coordinated and well planned.

 

Two different US convoys ~ one on the East and one on West were attacked at about the same time. Iraqis were well-armed, attacked with RPGs, mortars, rifle fire, and grenades ~ all at the same time.

 

One of the American convoys approached an enemy roadblock, attackers hit our troops from rooftops. Both US convoys responded from their locations.

 

US responded with cannon fire, tanks, rifle fire...killing 46 Iraqis, injuring 18 others...destroying 3 buildings.

 

About an hour later, convoy of US engineers came under fire, returned fire and hit the attackers.

Bad day for the bad guys. (^;
