Nouvel Observateur editor Jacques Julliard, in "Rupture in Civilization," expresses his conviction that the real target of America's National Security Strategy--which aims to preempt emerging threats--is not Iran or North Korea but Europe.

This is like the getting older by the minute hag thinking that the 18 year old boys are hot for her. Your time has past. Granted you did give us two world wars in your waning years, so at least you tried.

What would we want with Europe? A bunch of socialist couch potatoes that are on the government dole? Thanks but no thanks.

The only thing we have to fear from Europe is that radical Islam gets more of a foothold there. Then we'll have to go have D Day II to pull France's ass out of the fire again.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of ungrateful creeps. My only hope is that the Islamification of France happens as quickly as possible --- with formerly free French women being openly whipped in the streets for not covering their faces --- so that other countries (including ours) can get a clear preview of our possible future.

A SITUATION in which "progressivism" rubs shoulders with extremism creates nightmares for the French center-left.

Oh, it's creating nightmares world wide. The center-left may be wincing at what it says about them, but we're all targets of their bombs and schemes.

That's an awful lot of words to state the obvious:

France is a shitty little country.

Christopher Caldwell is a senior editor at The Weekly Standard.

Cristopher Caldwell is a verbose and ineffectual writer. He never uses a word where a paragraph will do. Case in point.

"I would guess that postmodernism is so Franco-centric because the real subject of Postmodern theory is France.

Perhaps a better way to put this would be to say that postmodernism is about the experience of being French in the late 20th century...after your country suffered a degrading collapse (and then collaborated with the Nazis) in World War II, after your country suffered the humiliating loss of Vietnam and Algeria (and nearly succumbed to a military coup in disengaging from the latter), after being displaced as the world center of art and culture, and after being economically colonized by American transnational business.

Hey, talk about being decentered!"
