There's an initiative headed for the ballot that would cut off the gravy train to illegal aliens. As you can imagine, AZ's bi-partisan political establishment, with a few exceptions, is four square against it. So please tell me again who's out of touch with the American people on illegal immigration. They need to change their priorities but I guess we'll have to teach them the hard way what we do want.

Our politicians seem to think NOT giving them uncompensated medical care is immoral and unethical. Go figure.

HEY!

These are potential voters!

Over 50% of convicts in US prisons are illegal aliens.

I very seriously doubt this figure.

I'm inclined to think it's a Coliforneeya stat.

New data from the federal Bureau of Prisons show that 29 percent of the federal prisoner population (or 47,570) are immigrants. This is a slight increase from 1995, when the figure was 25 percent.

(The figure would be much higher if state prisoners were counted, but current data are not available on the nativity status of those additional inmates. Less than eight percent of the country’s prison population are in federal prisons.)

Prisoners from Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic together account for more than one-fifth of the total federal prisoner population.

Guadalupe Castillo, a Tucson immigrant advocate, called on UMC to revoke the policy, saying it was "immoral" and "unethical."

"It is the right of all human beings to receive medical care regardless of their citizenship," she said. "That (policy) is saying, 'Don't come to the hospital because if you do, we'll turn you in.' It's frightening."

Except in Mexico where if you are a gringo and are sick or seriously injured you must pay an exorbitant amount up front before you are even admitted to a hospital and that includes a $1500.00 USD for a 15 mile ambulance ride. Otherwise you lay there and die. In Mexico if you are a gringo they must be sure they can suck you for everything your worth before you get any treatment.

"BTW, do they not have hospitals in Mexico?"

I have heard it said that if you can't pay, hospitals and doctors in Mexico won't treat you.

A big chunk of your insurance, taxes, and even payroll deducted "medicare" goes straight into paying wealthy physicians for taking care of illegal aliens who are living off your sweat and blood and family's bacon.

All mandated by our sleezy politicians and unelected federal judges playing cozy with the ACLU, NAACP, Fox, and scummy "undocumented citizen" shyster attorneys.

Note both "illegal" and "alien" are now completely taboo and gone from our lanquage kids.

Criminals define our freedoms, liberties, and lives.

The time is here once more patriots!

Still way below the 50% I originally tossed in.

A 4% increase in 8-9 years.

A trend that continues.

At least we have FreeRepublic providing a high visiblity sounding board that millions read and thousands post on.

Michelle Malkin is probably the current professional expert on this stuff.

She cuts thru the camo and goes for the guts of the problem.

It could be that was a SW fed prison stat, my memory is admittedly crummy, and that was not recently I heard that.

Not making excuses, just that this sticks in my noggin and it bothers me that I cannot resolve it; the 50% seemed so high I jumped when i heard it.

I have a really bad habit of jotting notes on backs of opened envelopes or cluttered legal pad pages.

Great when you are going to make a defining speech during a Civil War but not much of a filing system.

I used to keep up with Sheriff Joe in Nevada and rely on Steve Malzberg at WABC 770am NYC to catch or correct errors from his talk show guests he had or my calls then.

The rats in the neigbors barn are bad but our pest control specialists here are opening the doors of our homes to let the deadly vermin feed upon our groceries and children.

Oh those evil Scots that invade and despoil our fair land.

What is wrong with those Scottish genes?

It's a tough way to collect all right. But ultimately, if illegals don't pay, hospitals have to close. Society's needs for hospitals to stay open outweigh the needs of illegal aliens to freeload.

The hospitals are only one source of the drainage. The schools are a bigger one.

Either way, you should pay for what you use. America has been scammed so long by the south of the border illegals, we hardly know where to start cleaning up the mess.

The hospitals and other medical facilities that accept that $1,000,000 will at the same time endanger their own nonprofit mailing privileges and probably their nonprofit status with IRS.

The reason is about 99% of hospitals base their nonprofit status on the fact that they are "philanthropic", and they serve to defray the cost of government.

As soon as you start accepting federal government stipends, you are no longer defrahing the cost of government.

Rest assured that dutiful bureaucrats throughout the federal government will be keeping their eyes on how this plays out.

Send the bill to Vicente Fox and give him 24 hours to pay --- in dollars, not pesos.

___________

I guess along with this "right" to medical care, she does not think that one has an obligation to pay for the services received. Something tells me if one of her immigrants she advocates for were not paid for providing their service and labor, she would be crying foul.

Oh and I guess she sees nothing immoral and unethical with people not paying their bills or how about sneaking into a country illegally and mooching off of its legitimate citizens.

Department of Homeland Security's new Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has set up OPERATION PREDATOR that nabs foreign national sexual predators here. Most have been arrested and released without being deported. There aren't many stats of Illegal in and out of state prison because they don't even know how many they got. Bureaucratic nightmare. About a hundred caught since July. Tip of the iceberg.

"Russell Ahr, a spokesman for the Customs and Immigration Services, said Friday that officials in Tucson have received letters from UMC that are included in residency application files regarding the lack of payment. He said that to his knowledge, no one has been deported as a result of the UMC policy."

Great! This nitwit advertises that it's ok to skip on your hospital bill if you're an illegal, because immigration isn't really deporting anybody anyway. He might as well say, "Come on over and get your free healthcare here, everybody, cause we won't ask any questions and will give you whatever you want."

Arizona judge says emergency care only.

He should have added "then deportation". Emergency rooms here in California are used by illegal aliens for everything, not just emergency care, and we pay for all of it. I'm sick of paying for them.

Or oil --- Mexico is a very wealthy oil country --- plus the oil is nationalized which should mean it could pay for what it's citizens need.

There is a mass of pregnant mexican women who make sure they hope over the border before they deliver so that they not only get free health care but once their citizen children are born these children qualify for food stamps and cash assistance.

That's what a lot of this free health care is about. If they work hard in Mexico they can make $4-5 a day --- but US welfare for even one child brings them quite a lot more than that and many of the unwed girls from Mexico know it's a free ride if they can just give birth over here.
