New York Times caption to the picture - President Takes Last Turkey From Hungry TroopsLOL! You're going to fit in with this crowd pretty well.

This is such a fantastic thing! I'm not an automatic lover of anything and everything Bush does, but this visit to Iraq was just wonderful.
It has totally transformed Thanksgiving for my family and me. I woke up last night, worried about the troops, but now I feel incredibly positive - and I'm sure a lot of the troops do, too.
God bless GWB!

Hi Meek,
Great day for America...thank you President Bush!
Can you imagine the convesation on Air Force One on the flight home? What a great job.
To: PeteFromMontana
One of my young dinner guests kept saying, "Bush is in Iraq, Bush is in Iraq" while we were getting dinner on the table. We kept saying, no, he was in Crawford.
He was watching TV, we weren't. Man, what a GREAT Thanksgiving surprise!
hehe, sinator hillary! must be furious at being upstaged!

"sinator hillary! must be furious at being upstaged!"
I see that she chose a unit based in NY. My question is was it the 10th Mt. Div. Main or a NYARNG roundout Bde. that she dined with? She might find a couple of NYARNG disgruntled troops there that would cuddle up with her.

There are SO MANY ANGLES to this historic event. My brain is about to explode as I think of the hundreds of ramifications.Among them:
--Japanese TV on all networks and on the web, in Japanese, has this as the NUMBER ONE NEWS ISSUE, and Bush appears to be coming off as a bold hero, giving Japanese more courage and strength to stay in the fight with us.
--Kim Jong-il, North Korean dictator, in Pyongyang, who views Bush as his direct adversarial counterpart, must be absolutely defecating bricks in Pyongyang. This will scare him and many many other tyrants.
Phenominal. Absolutely historic. Hillary Clinton, all the Democrat candidates and particularly Wesley Clark, must also be palpitating and blacking out.
Can anyone imagine the D.U. threads at this time? Wonder if they are all on a Jim Jones Kool-Aid Watch over there....

Maybe I'm the last person to hear the PUNCHLINE to this event:
Senators Clinton and Reid are scheduled to fly into Baghdad TOMORROW
at least that's what I heard ABC Radio News reporter Tom Gauger (sp?) say on
KABC radio here in Los Angeles.
Looks like Dubya got there "the firstest with the mostest"!

They will be hard acts to follow. They will only point up their inadequacy and will look very very SMALL in comparison!

HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN: DETAILED REPORT OF BUSH'S SECRET TRIP
(a pool reporter's private notes)
Drudge Report ^ | 11/27/03 | Mike Allen
Posted on 11/27/2003 4:10 PM PST by Maria S
The President left Waco secretly Wednesday at 8:25 p.m. Eastern (7:25 p.m. Texan) with a small pool, stopped at Andrews to pick up a few staff and a few more poolers, change planes and then head to Baghad. Both flights were what we think of as the normal Air Force One, Boeing 747 with the normal marking. The President landed in darkness at Baghdad International Airport at 9:31 a.m. Washington time (5:32 p.m. local) on Thursday, Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day. He took off at 12:03 p.m. Eastern time, so was in Baghdad roughly 2.5 hours.
The staff aimed to keep the trip secret until after he had taken off from Baghdad ? no filing was permitted from the site, by the pool or by locals. The President landed with barely a sliver of a moon. He was already in a white Land Rover or Land Cruiser by the time the pool reached the Tarmac. The staff said the motorcade was 12 vehicles plus a military ambulance. Short motorcade of less than five minutes through a blacked out, rutty part of the airport, which looks like a military base...

During the Civil War the pro Southern Democrats in the North who was all the above was known as Copperheads after the snake.
I think it is time to bring the term back.
