The danger to our President was inherent in the activity, regardless of what is said or done here.

Actually, after five minutes of research, I now greatly beg to differ. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, this thread compromised the security of the President.

It is no secret that we have many honorable men and women in Iraq posting on this board. So one would say it certainly would not be a secret to the enemy. It would be easy enough to find out who is posting from Iraq on this board. In fact, we several of them very well. ChiefKujo is one of them.

If you follow ChiefKujo's posts, which can be observed by this link:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/site/user-posts?id=4311

You would know exactly what brigade he is in, and possibly even more information.

Yesterday (Wednesday morning), the following post was made in a thread about Hillary's trip to Iraq:

Yes, it's true.

It will be here, on Baghdad Int'l Airport
for Thanksgiving Dinner along with that
jerk from RI, (Reede I think it is).

We must attempt to contain the BOOs.

Also just learned that we'll be having
a suprise guest. We think it maybe X42,
but aren't sure.

ChiefKujo

24 hours later, he starts this thread.

ChiefKujo agreed to why this thread was pulled. I do not blame him or flame him for his excitement of posting. But I think in retrospect, we must not underestimate our enemy.

Granted it gives certain operatives only an hour to act on such information, but I know his movements and the place. It does give an hour window. An hour at our President.

I do not bring this up to castigate ChiefKujo in anyway. I think its important that we remember this is a public forum.

You, "ican'tbelieveit", seem most interested in challenging my fortitude to try to silence me and others in your claim I would not allow the President to make such a trip. I have made no such claim at all either way. I do not fantasize about being president.

Instead, I agree that there was a breach in security, regardless of how small it was, and there it is in front of you.

I am very proud of our President and what he has done today. I am honored to be in the presence of men such as ChiefKujo who are truly risking thier lives on a day to day basis with this task. Today GWB proved he is willing to do the same. He inspires me.

But now, beyond a doubt in my mind, security was breached with this thread. and the danger to the CIC increased.

ican'tbelieveit, instead of us "recognizing" that some of us would not act in such a way as you have snidely suggested, why don't you recognize that you do not fully realize what we are up against and what the consequences of something so seemingly trivial at the time mean to the future of our country.

The initial post did nothing to further endanger the President than the activities that I have explained previously. This information was not released prior to the President landing.

You forgot to say, "Checkmate."

Thanks. I just got tired of this guy and decided to ignore him.

sir, just read post 1580... you concerns, while partly valid, should be in a different thread on the uses of the internet and the reporting functions.

While I appreciate your concern for limiting access to information by the enemy. However, there is a separate issue of limitations to freedom of expression CREATED by terror.

You are capitulating to the very terror that our troops are fighting against.

I appreciate the action of ChiefKujo and believe that he is in a better position to judge the security issues involved. After all, unless you are in the same unit as ChiefKujo, you are not privey to the immediate security situation on the airfield.

The moniker of "loose lips sink ships" while appropriate should not preclude the reporting of news and information.

If the Pentagon feels it permissible for our troops to have internet access, I feel that "chiefkujo" has the right to state what he wants, when he wants to.

Do not capitulate to terrorists by over-limiting our expression of speech.

Agreed. If GW's current location (Iraq) could have easily been discerned, which I believe was the case, it could have been possible to quickly muster anti-aircraft offensive action (e.g. shoulder-fired missles) near Bahgdad Airport. They could have gotten lucky. it's not out of the realm of possibility.
